Too much running around.
They had too many duplicates in it, and it was distracting trying to keep track.

It wasn't that that bothered me. It was what happened to Amy. I really hated it. Guess I just really dislike mystical pregnancy stories. Today, of course, I think that 'loathe' was too strong a word to use. I quite enjoy DW, but I'm not involved in it enough to really loathe anything.

Yes, I'm a bit fed up of those too.

I suppose mystical is the wrong word. But I hate what's happened with pregnancy in the show anyway. Plus, it's all compounded by the fact that I just don't like Amy very much and don't like the way she's being used.

I haven't seen it yet, but I didn't like last week's so I'm in no rush.

It was probably an improvement on that, and I do realise that not everyone will have the same reaction as me to what made me say I loathed it (too strong a word anyway).

I hated it too, but for different reasons. I think the Amy was the only bit I was even vaguely interested in. All that dad stuff made want to heave.

I'm kind of inbetween. I thought there were some brilliant ideas in this double (heh) episode, but for the most part it felt unnecessarily messy and unfocused. They very clearly wanted the episode to set up the twist at the end, which could make things quite interesting (even if I don't like the idea of Amy being the Damsel^TM), but I can't help feeling they could have found a better way to get there.

But come on, "Reverse the jellybaby of the neutron flow"? That was funny.

Hmm, I don't know if it was funny, but I did think Matt Smith was very good as the two Doctors, and that harking back to previous Doctors' catchphrases was good. However, I hated the twist and hated the Amy's mystical pregnancy thing. That was what made me say I loathed it, which is really too strong a word, I know, but I had a very visceral reaction to it at the time of watching.

The Rebel Flesh or the one that aired over in the UK but won't appear over here for two weeks - b/c we must do marathons on Memorial Day weekend, dang it!

Thanks! People are having troubles hiding them. One guy slipped up in his review (crossoverman) already and alerted me to a bait and switch (which actually gives away a lot.) I'm guessing it's a major episode and I'm going to have to be extra careful for quite a while. Major episodes are really hard for people to hide spoilers.

I'm going to have to do the same with GoT ep 7. I don't know when I'm going to get the chance to watch it.

I didn't like last week's, but I really enjoyed part two. Still nowhere near as good as The Doctor's Wife, but I thought it was a good, solid episode. Sorry it didn't work for you. Maybe you'll like next week's better. :)

I think it could have profitably been edited down to one episode - there really wasn't enough plot with the doppelganger stuff to justify a two-parter. But the double Doctor stuff made this ep infinitely superior to last week's to me.

Well I haven't seen it yet (still stalled half way through last weeks), but judging from my reaction to the last four or five I will be bored rigid and yet again debate whether or not to just give up on the whole show. Loathing might actually count as an improvement if they do something strongly enough for me to care.

I don't. I like Matt's Smith as the Doctor and don't miss Tennant's histrionics at all. It wasn't that I was bored, more that I really hated the storyline, which is spoilered in the comments, if you care about that.

I'm confused. When I first watched it, when it ended, I wasn't so much shocked by it because the twist didn't make sense -- I was more confused by the point of this two-parter. Wasn't the point of all this develpopment of the gangers humanity to show that once they existed, they deserved to keep on existing? That's why it was okay for the ganger to take the place of the original man who died and became a father. He possessed humanity.

So when the Doctor found out Amy was a ganger, why did he immediately decide to destroy the ganger? I just don't get it. It's like DW couldn't decide if the gangers were monsters or not, if they were less than human or not. And I even watched DW Confidential and they kept saying the ganger Amy wasn't the real Amy and -- wasn't that the point of this episode? The Doctor kept showing how his ganger was the same in essence, even if scans can tell the difference between gangers and humans.

I feel like I need to watch it again. But... I didn't enjoy it, so I don't really want to watch it again. Hmm.

No, I don't either, unless it was just to show the Doctor's ruthless streak.

For me, it doesn't help that I already don't like Amy much as a character. I don't like the way she's written or what she's made to do, and this pregnancy thing is like the last straw.

It's odd. It's not like Moffat doesn't know how to write strong female characters. Case in point, River Song.
