Writing Whinge

Still working on my WIP. Yesterday I managed about 2000 words. Today, I can only manage 200.

This may well be because I think I may have written myself into a bit of a corner.

Don't you hate it when that happens?

*nods* Corners are so annoying.

The reason I am not writing much is that I am not focussed enough! But, yes, I tend to write my story as I go, and then do get stuck somewhere occasionally!

Good luck!

That's still 2200 words in two days that I haven't written. So, go you! *\o/*

Corners are interesting, for awhile. Thinking your way out of them (while the paint dries) can lead to the best stuff yet, I believe.

Corner? I'm intrigued. And 2200 words is great!

It's often a sign that you don't know enough about some aspect of the story - normally characterisation but could also be something factual related to the plot. Try stopping writing for a bit and really think it through. When you know where you are going you will be able to write again.

I hope you can escape it!

I do, and it happens at least once a week, and it takes me another week to figure out that that's the problem, and then backtracking... uuugh. You'd think it'd get better with experience... :)
