Aug. 8th, 2011 01:40 pmBack again!
I did of course have a wonderful time.
And really what better way could there be to pass the time while waiting for the collapse of Western civilisation than with a bunch of funny, creative, like-minded people from whom you can learn cool stuff.
This weekend, I've learned how to make icons (well, in theory. Have d/l'ed that photofiltre program and am all ready to start once I find a pic I want to icon), learned (and promptly forgot, as my brain cannot retain technical info) an awful lot about making fanvids, heard interesting talks about prompts, and the sense of smell in fanfic, and the importance of researching stuff before you write it (Dark Horse comics take note), was in the team that almost won the quiz (I still think the other lot cheated), and realised once and for all that I really cannot sing (I used to be able to sing a bit, I don't know what's happened, my voice has devolved into a horrid, tuneless croak), decided I wanted to watch some BtVS for the first time in ages, and won the Weirdest Fandom award (birds, if you must know, and yes twitchers are weird, I'm a lot less weird than most of them).
Most of all, though, I enjoyed meeting/connecting with people again and having a good old laugh. It was fun. I'm going again next year (assuming money still works by then), and if you were undecided about coming, I strongly recommend you take the plunge. You won't regret it. Honest.

Date: 2011-08-08 12:49 pm (UTC)Welcome back, and glad you had a good time!
And I say birds isn't as weird a fandom as Harry Potter. That lot are insane.

Well, you could talk to me for a start. :)

As for The Hour, I love and adore it to itty, bitty pieces.

I don't think birds is a weird fandom. The weirdest fans I ever came across were through work and they were fans of test card music. Now that's *weird* (and so were they *g*).

Date: 2011-08-08 05:47 pm (UTC)I'm sure you would have found the talk about making fanvids very interesting. I don't know if any of the info will be put up at the Writerconuk website or LJ comm, but it might. Keep an eye out.

Yeah, you're right. That is pretty weird.

Date: 2011-08-09 09:27 pm (UTC)Ha ha ha! X-D Good point there! Depending on economy and life, we'll see what happens next year, yeah? ;-) Oh and is Real People Slash welcome there to, or is it a ban on that...? I know a lot of people are sensitive about fics like that. :-P Might be good to know, since that is what I primarily read these days. Well that, and Spander. *lol*
