S went away for a couple of days so I did something I very rarely do and binge-watched something on TV. This was a re-watch of season 1 of Altered Carbon followed by all of season 2.

So, I realised there was actually more to my 2019 TV viewing than Lucifer season 4 - yay!, Carnival Row - mostly yay! and Game of Thrones season 8 - yeurch!

Normally this time of year, I'd try and do a post about my fandom activities of the year before, including any fanfic I'd written, but since I wrote no fanfic last year and didn't do anything fannish, there doesn't seem much point. ;)

Speaking of Amazon Prime (which we sort of were), I discovered the other day that all seven seasons of BtVS are now available on it. So I've started watching. Only got to the third episode of season 1, but am sucked in enough again to go and re-read what I thought about those episodes back in 2015, when we were doing the (sadly, never completed) re-watch on fantas_magoria. I think I was too kind to the first two episodes. They really are not good. However, I still love Witch, the episode which first made me sit up and take notice of the show way back when.

Since coming back, I've been trying to catch up with TV stuff I'd missed, plus anything new that seemed of interest.

Vague spoilers for some of them behind cut, including BBC dramas The Bodyguard, Black Earth Rising, Informer and The Little Drummer Girl, also Doctor Who and The Good Place.

In other TV news, The Last Kingdom season 3 will go up on Netflix on Saturday.



Looking forward to that. Also looking forward to The Marvellous Mrs Maisel season 2, which goes up on Amazon on December 5th.

Still no news about who will air season 4 of Lucifer in the UK.

I'm also really excited about this Loki TV series starring Tom Hiddleston, even though I haven't the least clue how I'll ever watch it.

I did the disappearing thing again - partly because, as usual, I've been gadding about from place to place a lot, and partly because (as usual these days), I feel I have nothing of interest to say. :(

The last few days, though, there's been a third reason, which is that I've been binge-watching (something I very rarely do) season 2 of Westworld.

In completely unrelated news, I've been missing my fanfic writings days somewhat. Saw petzipellepingo pimping the IWRY marathon today and realised I've missed all the ficathons for two years now - Seasonal Spuffy, Summer of Giles etc. Oh well.

When it comes to IWRY, I'm pretty sure I didn't have another Bangel story in me anyway.

I'm going away for a few days on Thursday and am at K's all day tomorrow, so shall be around even less than usual for the next week.

...which we weren't really, but anyway, The Americans wrapped up this week.

I belong to a wonderful community here on DW that has been discussing the series from the beginning and have said most of what I have to say on there, but just want to say on my own journal that The Americans has been superlative. It's hardly put a foot wrong in six whole seasons (I say hardly, there have been a few things not so great, but they haven't detracted from the whole) and it ended as it's gone along.

Why it hasn't won a host of TV awards I'll never know. IMO, it's one of the best TV series I've ever seen. What's more, because of its period setting it'll never, ever date.

Wonderful stuff. If you've yet to discover it, I envy you, because I wish I could watch it for the first time again.

That said, it'll bear repeated viewing. And I intend to do just that very soon.
