Date: 2011-11-02 10:49 am (UTC)I don't really miss Nathan that much as a character, but his departure has definitely changed the ensemble, and I do worry that Rudy is so overwhelming that he'll put the other characters in the shade. Which is odd, because Nathan was pretty overwhelming at times.

Date: 2011-11-05 11:41 am (UTC)The new powers are pretty interesting. (And what a neat concept: tradeable superpowers! Looks like the power-trading guy is a continuing character, too.) Alisha's and Simon's new powers both look thoroughly useful, although in both cases what they're good for is gathering information and planning ahead, which are not the Misfits' traditional strengths (!!), so it'll be interesting to see how effectively they manage to use them.
Kelly's new power is hilarious and wonderful And nobody is ever going to take her seriously, are they? I really hope it comes in legitimately useful at least once this season. I mean, ultimately, are there any problems that can't be solved with rockets? (Side note: my grandfather was an actual for-real rocket scientist! Hee.)
Curtis's new power is intriguing, though it's kinda hard to see how it will ever come in useful other than for dodging police chases. It's definitely not up there with rewinding time, in terms of pulling-their-asses-out-of-the-fire potential. (Though, from a writing point of view, I can see the utility of Curtis not having that power anymore; by the end of last season, we'd gotten to the point where if anything really bad happened we knew Curtis would fix it.)

Date: 2011-11-06 12:15 am (UTC)Re: the Misfits' new powers, I keep expecting them to pick something super-heroically useful but they keep not doing that. Only Alisha and Simon seem to have any notion of super-hero-ing, because of Future!Simon, I suppose.
Er...what is Simon's new power? I missed it. Alisha's power I took as part and parcel of her trying to be a better person. She was selfish and spoilt. She wanted to be more empathetic -see things through other people's eyes. Now she can. Literally.
As for Kelly, obviously she wanted to be taken seriously, but she won't be. I wouldn't be surprised if she spends the whole series trading in one power after another.
The second episode is Curtis-centric, so we'll soon learn why he chose that particular power. The TV guide books over here have already sort of spoilered it, but I won't spoiler you. It's certainly not because he wants to be useful.
