True Blood season 5
Jun. 21st, 2012 05:20 pmOne thing I have done since getting back late Tuesday afternoon is d/l and watch the first two episodes of True Blood season 5. Have to say, so far I love it.
Spoilers behind cut.
Okay, it could still all fall to pieces, but as of the end of ep 2, this season is so much better than last. Last season, I really enjoyed the Marnie plot (Fiona Shaw was brilliant), but the fragmenting of the cast and plot - not to mention the utterly crap storylines that some characters, notably Sam and Jason, ended up with spoiled things. Then there was Eric and Sookie's trip to Narnia, which was...well, unforgettable (not that I didn't enjoy certain aspects of the Woobie!Eric plot).
This season, though, the dreadful Mickenses (all three of them) are gone, and so far it looks like the other stories could well be more integrated. But even if not, the Bill' n 'Eric Show, 'born again' Reverend Newlin, Vampire!Tara, Pam's backstory, and the imminent return of Bad King Russell are all highly entertaining.
In fact, the only slight fly in the ointment is that the Brit actress playing Eric's 'sister' (is this how Alan Ball has chosen to get out of the Eric/Sookie/Bill triangle thing, or is it in the books?) cannot act for toffee.

Date: 2012-06-21 06:21 pm (UTC)Bill'n'Eric is also fab - basically, less Sam, less Sookie and more of our vamps - including Pam - and I'll be a happy girl.

Date: 2012-07-03 12:47 pm (UTC)I did like the Marnie plot, though, and Lafayette/Jesus.
Also enjoyed King Bill, and parts of the Bill/Sookie/Eric love triangle.
But you almost knew it couldn't go well when the season began with Sookie busting out of Fairyland. ;)
