Happy 50th Birthday to James Marsters, without whom no Spike, and for me no fandom and no fanfic. Thanks so much for bringing creativity back into my life (though you probably wouldn't approve of the results), and have a wonderful next decade.

It's actually from about seven or eight years ago, but even in recent pics he's ageing very well indeed.

As for why he wouldn't approve, I've no idea what he thinks about fanfic or even if he knows about it (he probably does), but I think his jaw would hit the floor if he read some of the stuff people have written about Spike.

Back in the day, when he and Ghost of the Robot were doing an event at French Connection on Regent Street (who were going by FCUK at the time) he seemed completely scandalised by the adverts punning on 'fuck' - so I completely agree! Though you would have thought John Barrowman might have widened his horizons a bit.

Spike was the character who enticed me into the Jossverse, so I will always be grateful to JM for all the years of pleasure I've had since first catching a glimpse of a season 5 episode on BBC2.
