shapinglightI just watched Something Blue. Before you say, so what, until I watched those Halloween episodes the other night, I hadn't watched any BtVS in ages thanks to the comics. They've really soured me on everything Joss-related.
Which, of course, is one reason why it's so good to re-watch the show. It's a reminder of how just lame and stupid (not to mention how damn ugly) the comics are in comparison and how little resemblance they bear to it.
I'd forgotten so much about this episode, not least how laugh out loud funny it is. Best bit, probably poor old Giles alone with a Buffy and Spike who won't stop kissing, and who is, for a moment - just for a moment - genuinely touched when Buffy asks him to give her away at the wedding. ASH is just wonderful.
Also, early Buffy/Riley is so sweet. I wish they hadn't turned Riley into such a d**khead in season 5. Oh, and Willow really is kind of whiny. She's so mean to poor old Xander.
