True Blood season 6 ep 1

Not a proper review, or anything, but spoilers behind cut.



Okay, so the werewolf stuff bores me rigid (yes, even naked Alcide), but otherwise I loved it.

Well, I could have done without Eric being so mean to Pam. Not sure what that was about, hope they reconcile before season's end. Also, I really don't like Norah, and don't want most of Eric's scenes this season to be with her.

Also, also, Bill suddenly being all normal was weird. And are we supposed to forget all the awful things he did in season 5, the way we're supposed to forget the awful things Twangel did in the Buffy season 8 comic? Among other things, Bill killed a completely innocent woman last season, as I recall. On the other hand, if we are just supposed to forget, it won't bother me nearly as much as it does in the Buffy comics, because I don't take True Blood seriously - just enjoy it for the craziness and the rather heavy-handed social satire.

Anyway, we'll see where it goes. In the meantime, one thing's for sure, dear sweet little Jason hasn't got any brighter, bless 'im. :)

Jason, Andy and Lafayette were the most fun last night, everyone else was either covered in goo or cranky.

Yes. Definite fun. But I've realized I most like the the characters who are not Sookie, Eric or Bill. As said above, Jason, Lafayette, and Andy were great. I'm sure all the others will come around with their craziness, and I have no doubt I will get hooked, but I can't honestly say the first episode accomplished it.

Oh dear, I'll have to be alone in my love of the vampire characters, then. I love all of them (well, not Norah), even dear, silly old Bill.

But I do love Jason. He's a sweetie. And I've always loved Lafayette.

Rest assured, you are not alone. :-) I like Jessica! And I do like Bill… depending on what he turns into this season. Tara will have this season to define herself as a vampire. But Eric. You know if somebody asked me to describe what kind of vampire he is or who he is, or what he stands for, I would have trouble. His character seems to vary depending on how he can aid the narrative of the season. And his look bugs me. He has a weird body.

Sookie I like just fine. But she is sort of promoted as the "heroine" of the story, or let's even just say the main character. She has very strong convictions, but frankly I don't find her a whole lot brighter than Jason. The soap opera way she bounces between Bill and Eric - I can't quite find It believable.

But then, I always love a good scene with Hoyt's mother. So go figure.

Haha, every single review and comment I have read about season six episode one (and I host a podcast about the show, so I read as much stuff as I can to gauge public response) has complained about the tedious werewolf storyline! You'd think the writers would learn by now that no one cares about Alcide's packleader drama, right?!

I didn't mind Norah last season, but she was annoying in this episode. I reckon she'll be dead soon. And I suspect that something is going to happen to Pam that will cause Eric to realise how much he needs her - like she'll be imprisoned by that anti-vampire swat team or something.

Bill being normal was awesome, I thought, because it was the last thing anyone expected.

But Eric. You know if somebody asked me to describe what kind of vampire he is or who he is, or what he stands for, I would have trouble. His character seems to vary depending on how he can aid the narrative of the season. And his look bugs me. He has a weird body.

He does have a rather weird body. The result of being so tall, I suppose. I like the character, though, and part of why I like him is because of his unpredictability. I'm never quite sure what he'll do.

I do know what you mean, but I think this is true to a greater or lesser extent of all the characters.

But then, I always love a good scene with Hoyt's mother. So go figure.

Yes, I enjoy those. She's a great character.

I suppose they have to give the character something to do, but it just seems to have no relevance to the rest of the story and is a waste of space.

Mind you, TB is notorious for that. Sam's whole plot in season3 3&4 (the awul Mickens/Tommy one) was a waste of space, as was all that business with Jason and Crystal.
