TV stuff, in brief
Jan. 16th, 2018 03:29 pmStill waiting for Lucifer to come back properly from hiatus. In the meantime, S and I are continuing to watch Feud. We have one episode left. I think it's really good, though I also perfectly understand why Olivia de Havilland (age 101) is sue-ing the production.
More behind cut, with spoilers for Star Trek: Discovery.
We're also watching McMafia on the BBC, which is good, but pretty dispiriting. Both dramas are distinguished (after a fashion) by the fact that S hasn't fallen asleep while watching either of them. Usually, he only has to sit down and switch on the TV, and he's out like a light. He also usually can't remember who any of the characters are (will claim all white people look alike to him) and requires a running commentary from me to remind him where we've seen them before. He hasn't done that at all with these two shows, so either he's decided to keep quiet and not spoil my enjoyment, or he's actually finding them both engaging.
Huh!
Anyway, apart from the above, I've watched the new episodes of Star Trek: Discovery, and I think they're really good! I thought the show got better and better after the pilot episode anyway, but now it's quite gripping. Can't wait to see what happens in the long run to the relationship between Burnham and Tyler, because I can't believe it's over just because he turned out to be a Klingon all along. I love those kind of spiky, antagonistic relationships, though I'd never want to be in one, obvs.
Mind you, the antagonism is a bit more...antagonistic this time, given that Tyler/Voq hates humans, and given that he murdered Dr Culber. Speaking of whom, anyone else expecting the mirror universe version of Culber to turn up any minute?
Sending Discovery to the mirror universe was an inspired idea. I hope they get stuck there until the end of the season.
Anyone else watched this?
