No new Lucifer until next week. Still no news re: renewal/cancellation either. I hope that it's just too early.
More behind cut with slight spoilers for The Good Place and Black Lightning, and proper spoilers for Altered Carbon.
I finished Altered Carbon last night. Ended up being pretty taken with it, despite the violence, and despite taking a while to warm to Joel Kinnaman's gi-nagerous Viking-ness. ('Ginagerous' is Brit for 'humungous', in case you're wondering.) I ended up really 'shipping Kovacs and Ortega - who was my favourite character in the entire show - and Kovacs and Quell, and am sort of sad that, if there is a second season (by no means a given, in fact quite the opposite), Kinnaman won't be in it. Okay, there was a lot of horrible stuff (though going by what I've read since, a lot less than there is in the books), but the series had interesting things to say too. Plus, it looked amazing.
That said, I did think it went slightly off the boil towards the end. Or maybe it was Kovacs's character that did, I'm not sure, once his sister was revealed as the ultimate villain. I also didn't think it was necessary to kill Ortega's entire family. That was just too much - literal overkill - even if it is what happens in the books. From what I understand, quite a lot was changed from the books anyway, so I don't know why that couldn't be.
I'm sorry I rushed through it so quickly. Will probably watch it again at some point.
I'm now three episodes away from the end of The Good Place season 2. Despite being dubious at first, because season 2 was such a big change from season 1, I now think season 2 is even better. Such a clever show. So brilliantly written.
Apart from these, the only thing I'm currently watching is Black Lightning, also on Netflix. I'm not a DC (as opposed to Vertigo) fan and I'd never heard of the character. As of where I am, though, that doesn't seem to matter. It's enjoyable, though I am getting a bit impatient for Pierce and Anyssa to discover each others' secret.
When I've finished The Good Place, I'll probably start on season 4 of Mozart in the Jungle. I'm trying to save it, though. Maybe I'll watch the entire show from season 1 again first.
