Lucifer un-aired episodes

Oh well, some good news about Lucifer.

Fox is going to air the two standalones made for season 4 next Monday (no news yet as to whether Amazon will do the same in the UK). Also, on Twitter Ildy Modrovich has confirmed they'll appear on the DVD.

Less good (in one sense), one is definitely an AU (see article), while the other (again, according to Ildy Modrovich on Twitter) should have aired as no 5 or 6 in season 4, so will not pick up on the cliffhanger.

Speaking of which, I've watched the last episode three times now and am less and less satisfied with it as a series ending every time.

Well, at least there's that. Speaking of Amazon though it looks possible that they'll pick up the Expanse so at least that's hopeful.

Yes, much modified. Better than nothing, though. I was afraid Fox were going to sit on those episodes for a long time.

Yes, I just saw that. I'm glad about it. The Expanse is a very good show - way too good to cancel mid-story.

That said, it would have been possible for fans to finish the story by reading the books. With Lucifer, barring miracles, it'll just be gone.

True. At least we're also in an era where those pickups remain possible. It's a lot more common now than it used to be. You never know, Veronica Mars and Miss Fisher have both gotten movie continuations due to substantial crowdsourcing support, Veronica Mars years after the fact.

Hopefully we will be able to sort of reverse engineer some resolution to the cliffhanger by what's going on in that episode that was supposed to be #5 or 6.

Not much point in sitting on them - strike now while the audience still exists and they can sell the advertising slots.

It's not quite on a par with the last TV episode of Farscape for "How could you end it THERE?" but it does come close.

You do never know. As time passes, it seems less and less likely that it will continue in the short term. However, the fan campaign to get it picked up by someone is still ongoing and it can't be entirely hopeless because the show runners have promised that when it's time to call it a day they will say so. And they haven't yet.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, though.

I didn't see the last episode of Farscape so I don't know what I'm comparing it with. I'm just going to cling to the fact that the Farscape fans got some resolution in a TV movie. Maybe the Lucifer fans can get the same. They're still making a lot of noise out there.

That's understandable. By now you've probably heard about the Roseanne incident which proves that unexpected things can happen to alter even what was once a firm fall schedule, so it's good that the showrunners have promised to let the "hope is dead now" period be clear.

Yes, I agree. And they can't let it drag on too long. Everyone has to find new jobs.

I don't think I could reverse engineer much of anything from those. They were fine and enjoyable, and I especially liked the backstory for Ella, but they didn't give us much resolution in the larger scheme of things. Chloe and Lucifer still appeared to be partnering to solve crime, but we got nothing on how they dealt with her knowing who and what Lucifer really is, and what that may have meant for their relationship or Chloe's understanding of the universe. We got nothing on how Maze came back to the fold, though clearly she had done. We didn't even get if Amenadiel came back from Heaven or not.

No, true. So a bit of a damp squib really. :( In a way, they both felt like AUs.
