Read it here

Nothing spoilery, unless you think being told the number of episodes in a season is spoilery.

When I first read it, I was a teeny bit disappointed - not because Henderson and Modrovich confirm season 4 will be only ten episodes long, I was expecting that, but because it seemed to me they were saying nothing much would change, plus they want to work out where the standalone with Ella and Azrael (which is possibly my least favourite episode of Lucifer ever) would fit in, so it's not going to be declared apocryphal.

However, on second reading of the interview, I don't think the lack of change is quite so clear-cut. They haven't actually discussed with Netflix yet how long episodes should run, or indeed anything at all, it looks like, and though they say they're going to cut their original season 4 plan into two parts and make the first Netflix season the first half only of what would have been a full season on network TV, I don't get the impression that they mean they're yet again going to be stupid enough to end on a cliffhanger. They're just promising a shorter, tighter season, which I think is all to the good.

Also, whatever else may or may not change, they're certainly going to have to work out the episode 'beats' differently, because there are no commercial breaks.

Will be interesting to see how they cope with it.

Personally, I'm still hoping for less procedural stuff, more supernatural stuff and a darker tone, but failing those, the show being more upfront about Lucifer's (and Maze's) pansexuality, plus the odd cuss word, would be nice.

Having seen Longmire make the transfer from broadcast cable episodic format to Netlix streaming serialized format? I can tell you it took at least a year to work it out. They didn't go full serial until the end of S4. It ended after Six seasons.

So, I figure Lucifer will go pretty much the same route. I do recommend Longmire -- it's good. Katee Sacliff and Lou Diamond Phillips have major roles.

Understand -- there's a lot of Brit shows that aren't available over here either. Someone had to send me the DVD for Misfits. And Great British Baking Show is several seasons behind.
