Due to this and that (mostly the wedding), I've only managed to watch one episode of Lucifer season 4 so far.

Spoilers behind cut.

I loved it. It was so much closer to what this show should have been from the very beginning if Fox (running scared of offending their regular viewers, IMO) hadn't hobbled it with the 'light-hearted procedural, rein back on the supernatural elements' nonsense.

Okay, since they couldn't change the entire premise - what with this premise being part and parcel of the show that was saved by its fans on Twitter - the procedural element is still there, but the whole thing feels...edgier, darker, without sacrificing all the funny moments.

Plus - big plus, actually - the episode flowed so much better now it's not having to do that pause thing while someone looks shocked or whatever because they're going to a commercial. And with the slightly longer episode length, there's room to expand on some things too. Lucifer's consultation scene with Dr Linda was where I particularly noticed this.

As for the final scene (which I did see coming, I admit, because Chloe was acting so weird), I'm intrigued.

Can't wait to watch more. :)

I'll be very curious to see how you assess this season when you complete it.

Watched and reviewed. A lot easier given Netflix's binging option ;) I've wondered if it made me look at the season differently.

I'm only two episodes past you -- seen three to date. Eh, just read the comments, we're even three episodes. I loved them, but I agree Chloe is a bit clunky with the acting. Ellis however does an amazing job flipping from vulnerable, to awkward, to dangerous. Loving the baby foreshadowing -- if Linda can get pregnant by Amenadail, can Lucifer impregnant someone? And what does that mean?

It is better than last year, certainly. Flows better.

Oh, I'm reading a volume of the comic -- which is so good. Lucifer and Gabriel have teamed up to find out who killed their father (everyone thinks it was Lucifer) and who put the weird metal splinter inside Lucifer, which is slowly trying to kill him. The art is good, and so is the story.
I'm riveted.

Being able to binge and watch without commercials is a great help. The commercials and the need to wait each week, made it a bit choppy. Although it is still designed in a way that binging isn't required -- unlike Haunting of Hill House which required binging.

Nope, no worries, I was feeling positive about it :)

I can sympathize. I hardly looked at anything in the few days before I saw Avengers Endgame and news about that was truly everywhere! I was shutting off radios, watching only ad free show episodes, etc.

Yes. I haven't found the old ones, although I did read about seven or eight of the original series back in the day, can't remember it though. Except that I'd liked it, and it was lot darker than the series. Although the series use of the murder procedural is incorporating the side stories about people doing horrible things to one another, regardless of the devil's input, which is in the books -- just in a different way.

Thanks for the warning. I have volume 1. I may stop there. Or just grab two. But won't get three.

Oh yes, there was a lot I liked with season 3, in bits, but, well, Tom Welling. And such. :)

Also, last season had Graham McTavish which I have a low-key crush on.
