Mad Men season 3
Feb. 4th, 2010 04:08 pmLast night's ep was just...blissful.
Slight spoilers behind cut
For those of you who have seen it, this was the episode in which Roger and Jane Sterling made complete fools of themselves, Carla the maid finally got more than two lines of dialogue (and good ones they were too) and Mr & Mrs Peter Campbell charlestoned everyone else off the dance floor. Meanwhile, Peggy got stoned with the backroom boys and Joan sang a filthy (or possibly not, my French isn't terribly good) French song to a bunch of doctors while playing the accordion.
And you don't dare miss a single frown or raised eyebrow, a single smile, or a single line of dialogue or you might miss the point completely.
Brilliant, brilliant stuff.
I need some more Mad Men icons, especially a Peggy one.

It was an awesome (and pivotal) episode.

Date: 2010-02-04 07:33 pm (UTC)They did and I'd be hard-pressed to pick a favourite. I loved those two very understated scenes between Don and the older man in the bar and between Betty and her new admirer too. But the Charlston scene was outstanding.

I love Joan too, and I have high hopes that she'll pay Dr Killanything (and it sounds like he really does) back for raping her.
Not that anyone would have said it was rape back then.

Date: 2010-02-05 02:53 am (UTC)I can't remember what tipped off people that it was Conrad Hilton. I just remember after the episode originally aired, going to TWOP and there being people who had picked-up clues in the scene. The show later confirmed it.
