The Misfits Christmas ep has just finished. It may possibly have been the best Christmas ep of anything ever, apart from Father Ted. :)

I finally got that full-on gulpy rush of this is awesome about half way through that, so I think I may well be set to become a Proper Fan. Absolutely cannot wait until the next series - I hope Nikki's back and I hope they keep Marni (and the baby!). Plus ALISHA'S POWER IS GONE!! And they acknowledged it was utterly horrific! (I want to know what powers they get!!)

Yes, me too. I can't wait to see what they pick. I've thought of a few things that bother me, though. Did 'Jesus' take Nathan's power? If so, surely that means he isn't dead at all, and therefore Alisha's awful power is still around. Plus, if Curtis does manage to get his power back from the old Jewish guy (what a cliche!), and turns back time to save Nikki, everyone will be stuck again with no powers.

My head hurts.

*snort* I can't really see myself getting into the fandom (though who knows? They seem to be going quite epic), but it's nice to know that it's there. If get the DVDs at any point I could see myself doing a vid or something; it's not really my sort of world as far as fic's concerned.

I don't think that's necessarily true, as far as Curtis turning back time goes - he could go back before they sold them and still sort out Jesus, giving them the cash to come up with something new. But that would mean he's actively gone back in time to kill someone (I think they just scared off lactokinesis boy, who mostly got sick off celebrity, I think), which feels like it should be more foregrounded that it would be.

This is probably why I won't get into the fandom, of course, because I don't think speculation gets you anywhere - I'm having fun being fed the story for the moment, so am not entirely worried about coming up with my own.

I think they punched lacto boy just before he would have discovered his power, thus preventing him from doing so. Yeah, yeah, plot hole. But, who cares, really?

I don't really care about the plot hole, but (just for the sake of being contrary ;) ) it wasn't then - he discovered his power when he reformed the milk spill in the cafe. They punched him just before he filmed his power (wasn't the camera already set up?), so presumably scaring him off from revealing it. (To be honest, I'm not entirely sure I see that as a plot hole anyway - he seemed pretty dweeby until he went mad with power, so I can see him being scared enough of the Asbo Five to do what they told him to do so as to avoid getting beaten up.)

At the moment, half the posts on my flist seem to be Misfits posts. I've followed links that have led me to posts declaring that the show avoids Race Fail but fails the Bechdel Test (from which posts I've snuck quietly away) and others that consist of nothing but OMG!SQUEE!

Hmm, I'd assumed that they killed him, but since Nathan claims that, unlike 'Jesus', they haven't raped or killed anyone, until Curtis points out that Alisha raped him, and that they've killed loads of people, maybe you're right? Maybe Curtis just meant the probation workers, since they never meant to kill them?

Oh yeah, I saw that... I agree that it would be nice to see Kelly and Alisha interact a bit more, but I think the show could do a lot worse. (I always feel slightly excluded from those sort of posts, because I tend to think statistical analysis like that usually has more flaws than positives - and yet they're always full of people going YAY STATISTICS!!)

I think Curtis probably did just mean the probation workers - it just seems too much of a hole that Nathan would forget them killing someone in essentially cold blood, but then I could be wrong.

Yes, it would, though I thought the scenes where they were running away from Computer Game Man, and Alisha was obviously very concerned about Kelly were nice. But they're not natural friends. Really, the only thing they have in common is being Misfits.

I wouldn't put anything past this show, but I think it's most likely we'll never find out.

Yeah, exactly - there's a lot of cues that they do care about each other/talk to each other, like the way they'll stand next to each other or come into shot having the tail end of the conversation, but they're not really natural friends, nor are they natural enemies, so there isn't much to have them do (though they probably could come up with something if they tried). If they keep Nikki and Marni, though, that should hopefully help - also if Kelly and Alisha end up with more 'active' powers, because there'll naturally be more woman-woman interaction.

His power got a bit impossible to handle, because he could undo everything.

It was, though in a curiously hot way. This show does the best sex scenes. I even enjoyed Nathan's sex scenes in this one, because he was being so sweet and unlike his usual annoying self.

No, no one ever said that, so we still don't know. I suspect it's best not to dwell on it too much. I hope they save Nikki somehow too, but at the moment I don't see how it will happen. Her death scene was pretty powerful and I could see how the show might not want to 'buy' it back, but it does seem very hard on Nikki. We'd barely begun to know the character.

It's definitely not just you. I think it was the Alisha/Future!Simon stuff in ep 3 that catapulted this show into the stratosphere, because it was just so well done.

Me too. It would be hard to choose between them, though if the rumours about Robert Sheehan not coming back for series 3, at least the audience would believe Nathan had left to set up home with Marnie.

I'm hoping Curtis doesn't actually get his power back (although I'll miss Nikki if she doesn't return), as I think it made it far too easy to put everything right.

I don't know about Curtis's power. I think if he had a choice, he would probably choose something different anyway. I would be very sorry if that was the last we saw of Nikki, though.

Doesn't Curtis's flash forward (to being with Nikki) mean she must live? Or has that already happened/is part of a debatable future? Also, I think Jesus just had a selection of powers, not including Nathan's necessarily, so he's probably dead. (Though in a way the blasphemy of his resurrection would work. But it would also be a C4 scandal so...hmm.) I dunno. I have decided not to worry about it. Any show that pulls off Marnie's sudden entrance and development into a Love Interest that we actually like and believe in has my loyalty.

I like very much that they've found a way to switch powers around that is actually a plot in itself. Some of them aren't great powers (we've hardly seen Kelly's this series, let alone Alisha's horror story, and I'm not convinced Nathan's immortality is such a gift), and they can now experiment with alternatives.

Quite true. It was amazing how well that character worked. And it is all enormous fun. Adore it.
