No, I haven't read it. Haven't even read the first book yet. Haven't even started it, in fact, as I'm currently reading an Alan Hollingsworth novel (when I'm not too tired to read at all, that is), and in my usual state of awe at the beauty of his prose.

Anyway, was just thinking that with this new ASOIAF book out, it's going to be increasingly hard to be a Game of Thrones show only fan, because the book fans are going to be giving each other knowing/pitying looks over our heads all the time whenever we say anything. Oh well, I am still determined not to be majorly spoilered for the show if I can avoid it.

Speaking of books, the BBC are screening an adaptation of Sarah Waters' The Night Watch tonight. I love that book so much! Am disappointed that it's only a one-off drama and not a 2/3 part series. Hope I can stay awake to watch it, but suspect I'll - as so often - end up catching up on iPlayer.

I think it wont get much worse than it already is. Especially since the later books have several new characters and so on. It's really much harder not to spoiler anyone for book two than for book four.

I really hope that this one was the worst because he had to change so much from the original vision. He wrote the first two in two years after all and I think he would like to end it before the show catches up with him.

It might also help that he's writing for the show too now, with more people being involved it might be easier to get over the hard stretches.

Anyway I'll be careful to hide everything spoilerish under cuts.

To be perfectly honest... did all that much happen in Book IV? I mean, I know things happened, but nothing big happened.

To be honest... yes. Amazing things happen... but we may have to read pages and pages about the Westerosian Equatorial Swallow and the Dornish history of bird watching first.

I also think not much will change, the excitement will be over soon. I promise not to spoil you and hide everything under lj cuts.

Yeah the blurb did spoil some of the arcs for major characters.

Heh.

It was earned.

I was thinking exactly the same thing! All the excitement I'm seeing is making me wish I was a reader of the books first - but I'm going to remain strong and try not to spoil myself for anything beyond book one. It isn't easy, though!

I'm looking forward to The Night Watch. I'm hoping it's a good adaptation - but knowing the quality of most BBC dramas, I have faith that it will be. :)

Night Watch! Oh, I'd like to see that. I heart Sarah Waters.
