So it seems LJ's back? I hope so anyway. I spent most of yesterday twiddling my thumbs because I couldn't get at a d/l of True Blood ep 5 and was feeling deprived. Anyway, watched it now.

Spoilers behind cut.

Before I say anything else, have to just squee a little.

The Mickenses are dead! Hooray! Squee! :Throws streamers:

I've rarely been so glad to see the back of characters on TV. It's just a pity Tommy didn't off himself as well. That said, the scene where he turned himself into an alligator and frightened Andy Bellefleur was funny.

Also very glad that Jason's away from Hot Shot and slightly forgive Sookie for not noticing he was missing, because it seems she did. She at least tried to contact him. However, she does need the ticking off she gets from her gran via Marnie about taking care of Jason. Somebody should (not Crystal). However, though she takes Gran's advice and runs like hell away from Marnie, Sookie is obviously going to ignore what Gran had to say about Eric. She's utterly smitten with Woobie!Eric (normally hate that word, but it applies here) and who can blame her? It's oddly touching to see a 6ft tall ex-viking crying because he had a nightmare and doesn't want to be evil like his dream is telling him he should be.

Of course, it'll all end in tears, as Gran warned (and Tara too, though as usual Sookie takes pretty much zero notice of Tara's feelings). By the time the season ends, Eric will probably have got his memory back and either not remember being Woobie!Eric or be so embarrassed by it he pretends he doesn't remember, and Sookie's heart will be a little bit broken, and then she'll go back to mooning after Bill. Annoyingly, the fact that Sookie lied to Bill in the previous episode gives Bill a teeny step onto the moral high ground, though Sookie's lie is nothing compared to the lies Bill told her.

In other words, I'm still enjoying King Bill, but only if he stays away from Sookie. This 'soul mates' stuff bores me rigid.

Elsewhere, the witch plot, which is slowly drawing in the majority of the other characters, continues to simmer along nicely, and those characters whose stories aren't connected at all- such as Sam, Tommy and Alcide continue to be boring and pointless.

And then there's Tara. It's got to the point now where I'm so desperate for her to have some happiness in her life that I really do want her to go back to New Orleans, make things up with her girlfriend and never come back. I think the only person in Bon Temps who really cares about her is Jason, because Sookie is the most useless B/F ever.

A weirdly bitty episode. And Pam needs to get better soon. Poor Pam! Also, Jason's sex dream about Jessica was hysterical, and is anyone else surprised that the Reverend Daniels seems to have meant what he said to Lettie Mae and has left his wife and married her? I know I was.

I'm hoping now that Sam has opened his big mouth and told Tommy his dirty little secret that it will backfire big time.

And there were so many good lines in that episode, it was hilarious. And King Bill getting rid of Portia like that had me in stitches.

I'm wondering if those two are going to be back since their "exorcism" didn't work.

Hee. Again, feel exactly the same way.

Yep. Pretty much. Love the line: "Gators like marshmellows, but then you probably would know that."

Only drawback was Tommy's still alive, but maybe he'll be less annoying now that Ma and Pa Kettle are gator bait?

In other words, I'm still enjoying King Bill, but only if he stays away from Sookie. This 'soul mates' stuff bores me rigid.

Sigh, me too. Love King Bill - highly entertaining. Bill swooning over Sookie highly boring. I'm actually rooting for Paquin and Stephen Moyer to break up in real life so that Ball will stop feeling the need to put them together. (How pathetic is that? There was an article in today's metro about how the sex scenes are easy for them because they don't pretend. Yes, and incredibly boring for some reason.)

Again - ditto. I love Tara. But I want her to be happy. Actually, I think Tara may be the only character outside of possibly Lafayette that I'm rooting to have a bit of happiness. (well, maybe Jason.)

But I'm guessing the girlfriend will end up in Bon Temps, hopefully not dead. I'm rooting for a tough vampire slayer!

Also, Jason's sex dream about Jessica was hysterical

Guess where Jason's storyline is headed??

Of course, it'll all end in tears, as Gran warned (and Tara too, though as usual Sookie takes pretty much zero notice of Tara's feelings). By the time the season ends, Eric will probably have got his memory back and either not remember being Woobie!Eric or be so embarrassed by it he pretends he doesn't remember, and Sookie's heart will be a little bit broken, and then she'll go back to mooning after Bill.

This, oddly enough, is the only storyline that is closely following the books, albeit with a whole lot better dialogue. Here it's hilarious. Although I keep wishing Ball would have a scene with ERic watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and finding it hilarious (that's in the book and the best scene in the book). Yep - she's going to lose the man she's falling in love with - the moment he regains his memory, the Eric she fell for will be gone.
It's a nasty catch-22. Also a really good satire on the Woobie romantic trope. A hilarious one actually.

Sigh, agree on Pam. Can we reverse Pam's spell and leave alone Eric's? (I'm unfortunately spoiled on Pam trying to find information on Hotshot. But hey, at least I know that the Hotshot story arc is gone! YAY!)

Took me a while to figure out that was Lettie May - I kept thinking, where have I seen that actress before? Oh right, Lettie May. Wait - he actually left his wife and married her? When??

I think the Alcide and Sam storyline will eventually work their way into the witch story or be set up for next season...one or the other. Remember the whole skinwalkers are mighty powerful witches bit? (Although that admittedly did not show up in the episode summaries. So you're guess is as good as mine.) At any rate, agree - the non-witch plots aren't as interesting.

i'm with you on being glad the mickenses are dead and also wanting tommy to be gone as well. they don't exist in the books, and i feel like there's plenty of good reason for that. in fact, i enjoy trueblood a lot, but there are so many things the show has added that the books didn't have that i don't find necessary. the only thing they've changed that i actually prefer to the books is that lafayette is still around and didn't die in season one.

i'm pretty sure the sam/luna story is headed somewhere, and i'm interested in that, and i can't wait to see what they do to jason (knowing how it turned out in book four is only making the anticipation greater). i'm not loving the jason/jessica thing, but that's mostly because i can't stand jessica. i have no idea why they thought adding her into this show would be a good idea. she doesn't exist in the books either. the only good thing about her is that her existence gets hoyt more screentime, and i love hoyt so much.

i also love arlene and terry. i can't wait to find out wtf is up with that insane baby. :D
