Yikes, I had no idea what was going on in London until I just now looked it up. It hasn't been covered in either of my local newspapers at all. American media suck. I hope it all calms down as quickly as possible. That's the kind of thing I expect to hear about happening in Detroit and LA, not London!
Well, we can smell smoke! I had no idea what was happening though until I checked the BBC website. It looks as if it's in West Croydon, which is some way away from us, though my parents have to go through it for a hospital appointment tomorrow. I think I'll tell my mum to go a different way!
It's centered on Reeves corner. I'm following the daughter's tweets (born in Mayday, now in Wimbledon) - "That shop in Croydon is on a street that bears its name: Reeves Corner. Established by my gt gt grandfather in 1867.Now gone"
Well, I didn't know Croydon was on fire until I saw your post, so I guess that means I'm okay? All the trouble seems to be at the far end of town while my house is in a Leafy Suburbâ„¢, but it's right next to where I used to work. Umm.
Best of luck to your own family; sounds like they've got it much worse. :(

Date: 2011-08-08 09:32 pm (UTC)I hope so. Stay safe anyway. As long as you're not near any shops, you'll probably be okay. And thanks for the good wishes.
