Dec. 8th, 2011 06:22 pmBoy, it's wild out there! :whimper:
Mind you, nothing to what they've had/have in Scotland.
I hate winter.
ETA: I don't appear to be getting all my comments as email, just so you know. I'm not ignoring you.

Date: 2011-12-08 07:27 pm (UTC)Up our way, a male peregrine flushed 25 teal, 40 mallard and 30 Black-tailed godwits, in a gale!.
Also, the final lot of comics is on its way to you.

Date: 2011-12-08 07:29 pm (UTC)Scary. I can't say it's the worst storm we've had since we moved up here. There've been nights when I thought the roof would blow off. But it's bad enough.

Date: 2011-12-08 08:16 pm (UTC)The only time I get it as email is when it is in response to a response that I made to someone else's post - such as this one for example. But my own? Nope.

Date: 2011-12-09 12:38 pm (UTC)That's weird. Have you complained to LJ?
Mine seem to be back now, so whatever was happening was temporary (probably something to do with the DDoS).

Date: 2011-12-08 11:27 pm (UTC)That's the trouble with the internet - it gives you more information about why you should be worrying and far more people to worry about. It's been windy here too, but not in the same league as further north.
That peregrine must have thought he was Superbird!

Date: 2011-12-09 12:40 pm (UTC)I suspect all peregrines do. :)
Well, one good thing about the storm, bad though it was no one has been killed. I expect IoM will be up again later.

Date: 2011-12-09 07:10 am (UTC)If anyone would do it, a Peregrine would - I am always in awe of their tactical ability in launching surprise attacks from out of the sun, behind a cliff or whatever. They aren't just fast, they are sneaky and fast.

Date: 2011-12-09 12:44 pm (UTC)Also, that Messiah recording I was listening to was Colin Davis conducting the London Symphony Orchestra and Choir with Heather Harper, Helen Watts, John Wakefield and John Shirley-Quirke. No idea whether it's a well thought of recording, but I think it's wonderful. Especially Helen Watts.

Date: 2011-12-09 02:30 pm (UTC)That is a very old recording apparently, and performance styles vary so it would doubtless be considered 'wrong' by some people these days, but Gramophone liked it:
As did the reviewers on Amazon - in fact it seems to come out top in their search. So in a crowded field it's not doing badly :)
