I liked it right up until Alisha died, but, yeah, after that they seemed to try really, really hard to make her death into a fridging. I suppose it was doomed to go that way, but I like my twisting of superhero myths to be a bit more twisty... Especially since they seemed to sour all the previous Simon/Alisha as well. :( Wah!
I guess I'll have to make do. *pout* I DL a lot of British TV, but I must just be spoiled by unusual shows like Who, and Being Human. That and I tend to watch several seasons at once so I guess I forgot how many shows only have 6 episodes per season.
I guess if that's the cost of making actual good television it's worth it.
ETA: And *crap* that'll teach me to read comments before I watch an episode. My bad. *sadface*
No, he told her he came back from the future to stop her dying. And Future Simon did just that in season 2 when he died himself. He never said anything about her dying.
I hated the offing of Alisha even if it did give Simon the reason to go back in time - because as long as he was with her, why would he? I enjoyed it a lot up to that point, but those were two of my three favourite characters (always love a fookin rocket scientist) and two is a lot to lose at the end of one series.
I wonder if the actors wanted to move on, like Robert Sheehan?
I saw it that Simon goes back in time to save her again. I therefore assume(d) that he and Alisia will be back in the next series. I actually thought it would end with the the 2 of them joining the others on the roof. We shall see.
I didn't not enjoy the episode. But I will be miffed if, indeed, both Simon and Alisia have been written out.
Well, Antonia Thomas has already tweeted that she's not coming back. I suppose, like Robert Sheehan, she wanted to move on. I don't know about Iwan Rheon.

It is, though I think I couldn have handled it if Alisha hadn't died in such a horrible, pointless way.
Antonia Thomas is definitely not coming back, so I suppose she did want to move on.
I had a different reaction. When my friend T and I watched series 2, the bits with Future!Simon and Alisha, we were convinced that Alisha was dead in the future. It wasn't in anything Future!Simon said explicitly, but it was in the way he said certain things, and the way he looked at her.
Then in series 3, as Simon seemed to be convinced that he could avoid his destiny-in-the-past and the time travel thing seemed to get dropped, we shrugged and accepted it; time travel is inherently messy, and we were willing to forgive the show for that, but it felt like a pretty big dropped thread.
So then when poor Alisha bought it in this episode, our reaction was "Ha! We knew it!"
Still sorry to lose both of those characters, though -- hard to imagine what another series would look like with only Kelly and Curtis remaining of the original Misfits.
