Homeland ep 7
Apr. 2nd, 2012 07:50 pmI didn't get a lot of writing done today - some, but it's even crapper than usual. My evil twin just cannot write with S in the house. I was going to make a post about my visit to Leighton Moss RSPB the other week, but I've run out of 'net time, so just a few words on yesterday's Homeland.
Spoilers behind cut
I do feel I got a little more of what I wanted from this series in the latest episode (how to explain it, I don't know). Not quite, because Brodie saying he became a Muslim because there wasn't a King James Bible available struck me as dodging the issue. Not to mention, apart from the praying, there's precious little sign of it. He still goes to church with his family and sings the hymns, he drinks - he drinks a hell of a lot, and in fact he and Carrie both seem to be appalling drunk drivers. At this stage, I'm not sure why he's saying he's a Muslim. It still seems more like him acting out somehow.
I think there must still be a lot of revelations to come about Brodie, because otherwise the above doesn't make sense to me. I hope there are anyway, as that's far more interesting to me than the spy/terrorist stuff. I don't care about that, beyond hoping that Aileen is either lying or mistaken about the identity of the man on the roof.

Date: 2012-04-03 08:31 pm (UTC)Really enjoying Homeland tho'. Refreshing feel to it and it has a great cast, although Mandy Patinkin needs to reveal a bit more about his character rather than just being grumpy over the missus.

Date: 2012-04-03 09:18 pm (UTC)If he was really still alive and the only answer to the conundrum then they would have left the reveal for at least another two episodes, probably right until the end. It must be a red herring in some way. If I'm right about Saul then chances are the two of them concocted the whole thing during the drive. Walker just might still be alive, but I can't see how or why he would be back in the States and a traitor - it would make for a very annoying deus ex machina plot if he was.

Date: 2012-04-04 10:05 am (UTC)As for Brodie, I personally feel, especially with the extension of this show into a second season, you're going to get a lot of red herrings. I have this idea the writers could have wrapped it up within one season, now that it's going to be longer, the 'is he?' or 'isn't he?' questions will be dragged out.
