Watched the latest True Blood season 3 episode earlier, and...

Thoughts behind cut, with spoilers of course

....okay, it's no secret I suppose, that I am very uncritical about this show. It can be as daft and OTT as it likes and I adore (almost) every minute of it. I loved this episode to bits - even the ridiculous little-girl's-idea-of-fairyland-complete-with-frilly-white-dresses version of heaven, or wherever it was that Sookie went in her dream/vision/whatever. As others have said, it had distinct overtones of Andrew's We Are As Gods scenario from Storyteller but that was part of its charm for me. It was so cheesy you could have eaten it with crackers and a nice glass of red wine. :)

Other things that I loved were the final demise of Lorena (though I did feel sorry for her that her love for Bill got thrown back in her face at the moment of her death), Tara being very forceful and kickass. You'd hardly know she'd been through such trauma herself in the last few eps. She even shook off her realisation that because she didn't leave Franklin My-Middle-Name-Is-Madder-Than-A-Whole-Field-Of-March-Hares Mott a jamlike stain on the floor, he's likely to be back any moment, in order to help Sookie. Plus, she seems to have developed super-strength at some point, if the way she threw Bill (wrapped in a blanket) into the back of the truck all by herself and then kicked him out into the sun is anything to go by. And Bill completely deserved that. I'm also glad he hasn't shanshu'ed, but just been made temporarily sun-proof by Sookie's blood.

I hope Sookie and Bill will be separated for a while now and get to have scenes with other characters. I want to see more Bill/Jessica, for one thing.

Apart from all the above, there were also wonderful scenes with Jason - he had me in stitches with his, "I never thought I was smart enough to get depressed" remark, not to mention his exchange with Lafayette about the meth. His scene with Crystal's cousin was very funny too. He's so cute and clueless. I love him to bits.

Also, this was the first episode where I haven't minded Sam's story. It really came alive for me. I loved his rescue of Tommy from the dog-fighting ring and hope (though not very hopefully) that'll be the last we see of Ma and Pa Mickens.

Last, but by no means least, I loved the Eric/Pam/King Russell/Magister scene at the end. I've missed Pam, and it was great to see her still bringing the sarcasm even under torture. Great also to see Eric's genuine concern for her - and have I mentioned yet that I really like the fact that Pam looks older than Eric? - and King Russell freeing her and finally beheading the Magister was all great stuff. Can't wait to see where this goes.

In fact, the only thing wrong with this episode IMO is the distinct lack of Jessica, but that aside I loved it and I think this is definitely the best season of True Blood yet.

Squee! Told you I was uncritical. This show makes me happy, in spite of all the blood.
