A quick review before I make a desperate attempt to empty my inbox.

Spoilers of course.

I think I agree for the most part with the reviews that [livejournal.com profile] petzipellepingo linked to. This episode tried to pack too much in, involved some odd pacing and generally seemed a little weak after last week's. But then last week's was very, very good.

This is not to say this week's was terrible or anything. There was some good stuff in it, from Sookie's exclamation of, "I'm a fairy? How f**king lame is that?" onwards. I loved all the scenes involving Eric, Sookie, Tara, Jason, Bill, Jessica, Hoyt, Pam and King Russell. Not so great were the Sam, Lafayette, Jesus and Crystal scenes. I honestly do not care about Crystal and her horrible family of Beverly Hellbillies, or whatever they are. I also find I don't care about Sam's shady past, though his cold blooded murder of the male grifter had plenty of shock value. Arlene's scene with Terry was very sweet, though, and though the Lafayette/Jesus V trip went on far too long, I do like those two together, so I'll give them a pass.

I felt so, so sorry for Tara in this episode. Her scene with Jason was heartbreaking. I was so glad he didn't tell her he was the one who shot Eggs - except that then he did tell her and ruin it all. And now where's Tara run off to? And Sookie - if Tara's revelation about the way Bill abandoned her to Franklin in King Russell's house doesn't make Sookie turn her back on Bill at least for a while I shall be very disappointed indeed in Sookie.

Of the other scenes, Russell's goodbye to 'Talbot' was shocking and disturbing, just as it was meant to be, I adored the Hoyt/Jessica make-up scene, and all the Pam/Eric, Eric/Sookie scenes were wonderfully done. I loved Pam's reaction to Eric's telling her to stop interfering - reminding him that he would do anything for Godric is about as close as she'll ever come, I guess, to saying she will do anything for Eric. And it got through to him, because he seems to have given up his refusal to use Sookie against Russell in an instant. I honestly don't know what to make of Eric at the end of this episode, but I hope the Eric/Sookie 'shippers got a little of what they want. And only two episodes left to go. It's all getting very exciting indeed.

Oh, and congrats to Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin, who I see have got married.
