Wha-at? Which?

Nooooo!

ETA: Okay, that was pretty cryptic. More behind cut with some spoilers.

Anna Chancellor and Peter Capaldi broke my heart in this episode - so, so good!

But the end has just thrown me for a loop. I don't know what I've just seen. Was that Freddie surviving against all the odds, or was it Bel in a headlong rush to see him one last time before he dies? And will she get there in time or not?

I suppose the idea is that you decide for yourself, but I'm not sure I liked that. I'm really not. Because that felt very much to me like the end. No one's mentioned a season 3 as yet.

Oh, Freddie.

Do you think he can survive? If he does, he'll surely be disabled.

I read an interview with Ben Wishaw, in which he said something to the effect that he hoped there would be a season 3 so that the main characters could work through the consequences... He didn't say whether that included Freddie.

I am so confused timewise this week. Only just caught up on episode 5 (which at times was so flawless and gorgeous to look at I just felt ill with happiness) and thought I had a whole week to go before the next ep.

TO IPLAYER!!!

I think they left room for S3, and room for several characters to leave if they choose. If there is an S3, the end will hinge on what the actor decides...

It was very powerful, and horribly resonant in a lot of ways. Peter Capaldi is never not magnificent, and that scene where he lost it in his office was just painful. They make a good pair.

Hector and his wife were really good too. Indeed, there wasn't much slack anywhere in the episode. I think Julian Rhind-Tutt has been superb in this series too.

Agree with you - she's not tough enough for a newshound at the Beeb. Having worked at the Beeb back in the 70s & 80s the news women just had to be incredible hard nosed to survive. In fact I'd doubt she would have been promoted and that annoyed me in the first series. Having said all that - Freddie!!!!!!! *wibbles!*
