....really, really good. Also, it's been a while since I've hated a character sooo much I actually cheered when someone killed them.

It was a terrific episode. I wasn't sure they were actually going to go through with the killing but I wasn't unhappy they did either.

I was lulled into a false sense of security and didn't see the end coming!

I knew it had to mean something, but I didn't for one moment think what happened would happen.

I suppose they had to bring the story back around to the Ripper murders for the final episode, though.

Yeah, me too. It's unlikely, but I don't entirely put it past them killing Jackson off in the last episode.

I think that was my favourite episode of the series - I now want to go back and re-watch eps 1 and 2.

I guess in the time when they had the death penalty the whole idea of private police vengeance takes on a slightly different colour. It left a bad taste in my mouth though. The Ripper Street characters cross the moral line more often than I am entirely comfortable with. I am sure it is appropriate for that period, but it is still hard to like them in an unqualified way looking at it with our modern sensibilities.

Still, I agree it was a very good ep and it is great to find out more about the characters backgrounds.

See, I sort of like the fact that they're trying not to be anachronistic about that. Plus, I suspect private police vengeance still happens. They just pay lip service to it not happening.

There's definitely a second season, and I expect Jackson will be in it. However, this does strike me as a show where no one is quite safe.

I agree, especially after poor Hobbs. That came as a big surprise - and an unpleasant one, I liked little Hobbs.

Who knows what goes on in the police these days. After the revelations of the last year or so, I suspect nothing good.

Yes, me too. That's why I was cheering when the villain died and didn't bat an eyelid when the police beat him up during that raid.
