The Ripper Street finale
Feb. 25th, 2013 11:03 amWell, I don't know about anyone else...
Spoilers behind cut
....but it worked really well for me.
It was sad that Inspector Reid didn't find his daughter, and that she's almost certainly dead, and I'm sorry that he and Emily didn't decide to adopt the little girl they rescued from the white slavers (I suppose they both have too much else going on in their lives to pay a child the required attention anyway, so probably the orphanage is a better place for her), but otherwise I found it a very satisfying finale.
The villains were defeated, good triumphed, and Reid and his team seem to have put the Ripper behind them for good. We'll see, I suppose. The show is called Ripper Street, after all.
Some great scenes in the episode, but my favourite has to be the elderly Ripper witness dismissing the notion that Homer Jackson could be the Ripper, because the Ripper is a dybbuk and can never be caught. :shiver: That was really well done.

I've really enjoyed this whole series. The characters are real enough to have both virtues and faults and the plots were complex enough to be believable, without being tortuous.

It was a really good series. I'm glad there's another one.
