True Blood season 6 ep 3

Watched this yesterday. Brief thoughts behind cut.

Well, the Eric/Willa Burrell scenes started off really creepy, didn't they? Not sure whether we were meant to think Eric would carry out his threat, but I know I think he would have.

Not that it surprises me. Bill and Jessica (which works, since Bill is her maker) are the only vampires in the show who seem to have kept what you might call a human sense of morality.

Except that Bill doesn't any more. He's all Bill the Vampire Saviour now. I'm surprised he didn't just take what he wanted from Sookie (and think that the only reason why the show didn't go there is because they plan to go back to Bill/Sookie one day, no matter how unlikely that seems at the moment), but it's pretty clear he'll take it without a qualm from Andy Bellefleur's fairy daughters.

Elsewhere, Rutger Hauer is being awesome as Sookie and Jason's fairy grandfather (as far as I'm concerned he's 'saved' the fairy plot - which I find utterly ridiculous - single-handed), Pam is acting like a stompy teenager around Eric (Tara is acting more mature than her), and it was lots of fun seeing the Newlins' reunion. Interesting stuff going on.

Except for the werewolves, who bore me rigid, and Ben, who - while not quite so boring in this episode - is setting my teeth on edge with his awful 'southern' accent.

Fun, though I am worried about Jason.

I hope he's not belatedly becoming a were panther. I've tried very hard to block that whole Crystal/Hot Shot episode out of my brain.

Maybe he's developing fairy powers?

It could be hilarious, but I'd rather Jason just stayed Jason. He's such a sweetie.

I think Tara is another vampire who has retained a human sense of morality - after all, she took off with Willa, and was adamant that they should glamour her and return her to her father.

I totally agree that although Bill said "you're dead to me" to Sookie, the writers were leaving things open for them to be reunited one day. But also, I think this scene confirmed that although in the season 5 finale Bill heavily hinted that he might never have loved Sookie, he was bluffing then. Because if he'd never loved her, then he would have just taken her blood without her permission.

I also totally agree about Rutger Hauer single-handedly saving the fairy plot! And I was sort of glad they killed off all the stripper-fairies. It seems like they don't really know how to make the fairy stuff work. First they got rid of the alternate-world, Greco-Roman looking fairies that appeared in seasons 3 and 4, and now they've abandoned the season 5 fairies.

I'm absolutely petrified for Jason!

This is true. Though of course if Bill's vision comes true it won't do the vampires any good.

But also, I think this scene confirmed that although in the season 5 finale Bill heavily hinted that he might never have loved Sookie, he was bluffing then. Because if he'd never loved her, then he would have just taken her blood without her permission.

Oh, I'm still expecting Bill/Sookie at the end. Bill's done some horrible things, but I suspect we'll be meant to forget about them.

I'm glad most of the fairies are toast. I honestly can't view them as much more than a joke. At least Rutger Hauer gives them some gravitas.
