Unexpected
Oct. 9th, 2013 05:39 pmHmm, I appear to have finished the first draft of my final Spike/Giles season 7 story. Really was not expecting that.
'Course, it's total s**t at the moment (didn't end with 'and they all went home for tea', but might as well have), and even if I manage to make it less s**t, I suspect people are still going to hate the ending.
In fact, they may even prefer 'they all went home for tea.'
But even so, finished! After five whole years!
Hoorah!

Date: 2013-10-09 05:48 pm (UTC)It really is, but I can usually make it less so with a bit of effort.
Yay!
Still pleased.

Date: 2013-10-09 08:53 pm (UTC)ETA: If you're worried about reader reactions to the ending, you can always add a tag or two in your AO3 post warning for whatever you think will be the issue, eg., "sad ending" or "horror-genre type ending" or so forth. Then people who abhor that sort of thing can avoid, while the majority can still read with appropriate expectations. Just a thought, in the event that such a thing could be done without being spoilery.

Date: 2013-10-15 07:40 pm (UTC)Thank you! I almost lost it the other day when my user profile got corrupted on my laptop. That'll teach me not to back up for three whole months. Won't make that mistake again.
Thanks for the advice about tags, which I'll bear in mind. Hopefully, I'm wrong in thinking people won't like the ending. Depends on whether or not they like everything tied up in a neat bow.

Date: 2013-10-15 07:40 pm (UTC)Nearly lost it the other day. That'll teach me not to do a regular backup.
