Happy Halloween, everyone!

Though I would just like to say that, as a Brit, it still feels really weird to me to say that.

Anyone under the impression that Spuffy/the BtVS fandom on LJ is dead need look no further than the [livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends Halloween challenge to find out how wrong they were. A huge number of high quality ficlets have been posted, all of them worth reading.

I'm currently working my way through all the ones I've missed and have reached October 26th. Lots of reading still to do - which is what I get for being away most of the week, but honestly? It's been a pleasure.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] buffyversetop5 is open for its classic recs weekend. Hurry on over there and link to your old time favourites.

:) Generational thing, innit? We did trick or treating when I was tiny, so it all feels normal to me.

And yes, the Fag Ends challenge has been amazing. I've read shamefully little, being busier than anything and trying to scrape points together for myself when I had some time. Not for the last few days, unfortunately. But that means there's loads of good stuff still to read.

[livejournal.com profile] sb_fag_ends was on fire this year! It was actually kind of overwhelming! I know I'm not here much anymore, but it does my heart good that at least a part of the fandom is still around! Here's hoping I'll find time to visit regularly, and will continue to do so until the fandom is old and gray and sitting on their porch in a rocking chair, yelling at the younger fandoms to get off their lawn!

Of course Doctor Who fandom will be sneering at us from the nursing home, refusing to die just to spite those terrible kids who never visit by denying them their inheritance. I think Doctor Who will be a cranky old fandom.

As an American, I apologize for our cultural imperialism, especially on holidays made important by the candy industry

And (belated) Happy Halloween to you. Hurrah for trick or treating, I say - the more jolly festivals we have, the better.

If I hear one more person complaining about Halloween being a nasty foreign import I'm going to start complaining about Christmas trees being a nasty foreign import. And with rather more justification.

We had loads of trick or treaters - though tricks don't seem to enter into it any more. We loaded up on Haribo and assorted chocs and distributed them to tiny moppets in witch costumes as well as teenagers with their coats pulled over their heads. Was a long night. Mr sibilant wore a scream mask and frightened the adults who accompanied the little ones. A good time was had by all - and I'm eating the leftover Maltesers! Yum.

And yes, fag_ends is on fire - all should visit.
