Just finished the first draft of my [livejournal.com profile] iwry_marathon story.

Needless to say, it's the worst load of utter sh*t* that has ever been written by anyone.

:sigh:

No, the worst load of utter shite that has ever been written by anyone is the thriller novel 'Rhinoceros' by Colin Forbes. It would be impossible for you to be that bad even if you gathered together an infinite number of monkeys to assist you and tried for 13.74 billion years.

I kinda feel the same. "How bad exactly it is? Does it really trump russian high fantasy novels?"

General quality is so bad that "russian fantasy" is pretty much a synonim for badfic.

Damn, I couldn't begin to top this comment in a million years. (I also kind of want to read this novel now, though in an "how bad can it possibly be? way)

It has a plot hole in it so big that you could drop Australia into it - and, if you had done so during the reign of the Egyptian Old Kingdom Pharaoh Sekhemkhet, you'd still be waiting for the sound of it hitting the bottom.

I'm wrapping up a Spuffy Christmas fic and it's so bad, so I'm right there with you.

In all seriousness though, is it really that bad? Maybe you can tweak it after you set it aside for a bit? It's only a first draft.

The hardest part is getting the first draft on the page. :o) Editing can be fun!

And I don't even have an idea for seasonal_spuffy yet.

Do you need help with plot bunnies?

Re-writing entire scenes is definitely harder.

Well, I'm happy to bounce ideas around...got any thoughts about season or setting or something you've always wanted to try but haven't had a chance with them?

Omg...that sounds totally adorable, especially if he hasn't lost his Spike-ness. Is Buffy there or are they on their own?

You'll come up with one! I really like the setting...there are so many directions you could go!

I know the feeling. I wonder what is the exact timeframe when everything you make feels like shit. Some serious scientific research need to be done here...

Oh, yes, "post first draft" period is the worst. If I stall a little and didn't finish a thing in the next few days, it usually ends up in the trash bin...

But why this damn thing didn't came out the way it was in my head?! And then you even start forgetting how it was supposed to look when it was all in your head. Haaaaaate it!

It can't be that bad. After all, Nigel Farage and Ian Duncan Smith have written books. And I think that Hitler chappie wrote something or other too ...

First drafts are meant to be bad. At least, that's my mantra ;)

Maybe it's partly because you don't feel it for the pairing. (although you often think your work is crap and it's so not)

Worse than the specimen of late '70's dimestore torture porn I ran across in college? Surely not *lol*

I love your work so I can't imagine it's anywhere near as bad as all that. But I do know the feeling. *Which is why I don't post the crap that I wrote in my notebooks. That's my cowardly way out of it*

(Which does me know good for icon challenges alas)

Have you had a beta/"special reader" eyeball it yet?

I seriously doubt it, because I'm a big fan of your writing! But as a fellow writer, I know the feeling.

Uhm, celebrate the first draft, instead?

Fairly sure you're wrong about that -- unless you can top the immortal line:

Unmoving, he shook his head. "I am looking for that which I have not yet lost."
