It has a plot hole in it so big that you could drop Australia into it - and, if you had done so during the reign of the Egyptian Old Kingdom Pharaoh Sekhemkhet, you'd still be waiting for the sound of it hitting the bottom.

To be honest, I don't know if it is that bad. I suspect it is. Lots of rewriting/editing lies in my future. ;)

I used to think editing was fun, but it's not so much when it involved re-writing entire scenes. I hope I don't have to do that. I don't have an awful lot of time. :(

As for plot bunnies, at this stage pretty much anything would be helpful, so yeah. :)

The only thing that immediately springs to mind is Spike being human and having to wear adorable Williamish glasses, and being grumpy about it, but not depressed, or wanting to be a vampire again or anything like that. ;)

Yes, that would be interesting. For me, it usually starts when I finish a first draft and lasts until I post the finished product. Then, some time afterwards, I'll re-read whatever it is and decide it's possibly not as bad as I thought.

I hope that happens this time. It would be far worse to re-read and realise it really was that bad.

Oh, yes, "post first draft" period is the worst. If I stall a little and didn't finish a thing in the next few days, it usually ends up in the trash bin...

I used to hate first draft writing the most. Now, it's the first edit, because that's when you have to start turning the pile of steaming horses**t that is your first draft into something actually readable, and therefore it may involved a lot of bloody hard work. :(

Well, I haven't read Mein Kampf and have no intention of doing so, but it's possible it's a stunning example of beautifully written prose (I suspect not, though).

Maybe it's partly because you don't feel it for the pairing. (although you often think your work is crap and it's so not)

I do always think my work is crap, so there's that. It's also true I have trouble feeling for the pairing, though in this instance it's more a matter of when in the show the fic is set rather than the pairing. B/A post-series was a lot easier somehow.

I love your work so I can't imagine it's anywhere near as bad as all that. But I do know the feeling. *Which is why I don't post the crap that I wrote in my notebooks. That's my cowardly way out of it*

I haven't had it beta'd yet. Not sure who to ask, to be honest. My old beta retired and my current one is off on the razz somewhere. ;)

I will have to put an SOF (Save Our Fic) post and ask for one when I get back from going away this weekend.
