Still finding getting my head around posting very difficult for some reason, so here, very belatedly, are some brief thoughts on the first four episodes of Game of Thrones season 6. Still clueless about the books, btw, but I doubt that matters any more.

To be honest I could distil what I think about the season so far into just one sentence, which is,
God, I'm sick of Ramsey Bolton. And even sicker of him after episode four, in which he offed a character I really liked and was glad to see back on the show (Osha) in a completely offhand way, then smirked about it. Mind you, he does smirk a lot, mostly before or after horribly murdering/raping someone. So, not only is he very unpleasant, he's incredibly dull and boring.

More than anything, I'd like someone to kill him in an even more offhand way than he just killed Osha- the way Indiana Jones shoots that bloke with the sword in the first Indiana Jones film- and for the action to just close over him as if he never existed in the first place. I can only put his longevity in the series down to the fact that Benioff and Weiss get off on the character somehow, or have the mistaken (in my case anyway) belief that the audience just loves a psycho.

Sorry, no. And in any case, even if they do get rid of Ramsey Bolton, there are still plenty of psychos in the show. They're just not quite so one-note.

The boring Boltons apart, in the series so far I've been completely unsurprised by Jon Snow coming back from the dead, a little surprised by Brienne not ratting on Melisandre to Ser Davos about the horrible death of Princess Shireen, pleasantly surprised by Sansa's determination to get Winterfell back, moderately interested in what's going on with Arya, not terribly interested (though not actually bored) by events in Kingslanding and Meereen, and quite enjoyed seeing Dany prove that she's still inflammable. Looks like she might get that Dothraki army Khal Drogo promised her after all.

We'll see how it goes. As things stand, if I have to endure another season of the boring Boltons after this one I may bale on the show for good. It's become a bit of a deal breaker for me.

To be fair to the producers, GRRM has Ramsey alive to this point in the books as well. The letter to Jon is staged differently in the book. But the letter demanding that Jon return his wife and Reek and for 'the bastard' to come to Winterfell 'and see' is actually in Dance of Dragons.

And I still think this is Ramsey's final season.

I did love the Jon/Sansa hug x a lot.

This. I'm so fucking tired of him. I actually yelled at the TV when he killed Osha. God, I miss Joffrey.

That scene where Jon and Sansa are reunited, though. *snff* And Dany's big moment. And I'm actually kind of liking Bran's storyline so far, and not even just because of Max von Sydow. I want more backstory on what we thought we knew. And if Arya finally gets around to actually start killing people after 4 seasons of muttering about it, I won't complain. It's a good, if not terribly surprising, season so far.

I am tired of Ramsey. I mean, he's killed at least one person an episode so it's not even shocking anymore. I hope they end him soon.

But I was happy to see Sansa and Theon escape him and Brienne finally finding Sansa.

I think the White Walkers are next year's villain which will make Ramsey expendable. Ramsey has no bigger game so I think his picking this fight with Jon and Sansa will be his end. There's no compelling reason to keep him.

And I also loved the look Tormond gave Brienne like he thought she was awesome.

I don't see Ramsey going anywhere soon, but by the end of the season someone will wipe that smirk off his face. I agree, he is a predictable bore. You know who is even more tedious than Ramsey? The high sparrow. I want him squashed. But in general, I am rather liking the season so far. Nice to see Sansa taking her power back. And I always love scenes with Brienne.

Osha hasn't registered for me so it was just one more death. The one that got me was Shaggy Dog :(

No Arya this week?

Grr - there is something wrong with the sound on the YouTube clip of John and Sansa's reunion!

I have honestly found the first few episodes this year incredibly boring, that is until this last one. I actually jumped up and down and then cried at the Jon/Sansa reunion. I think Brienne and the big red haired Wilding could be kind of cute as well.

I find the scenes with the High Sparrow one of the most boring parts, but I think Cercei is lying about what Toman told her and then she told the Tyrells and that she is hoping Marjorie gets killed.

I am also worried that Tyrion has made a mistake and something bad will happen to him (not death, just badness.)

I was actually relieved that Osha was killed so quickly and that we did not have to suffer more torture. I am worried for poor little Rikon, but I too think that Ramsey's days are numbered.

I think the Arya part has been boring as well and am afraid they are taking her down a road she cannot be redeemed from.

I loved the Dani part and hope this means some good/exciting things for her storyline.

There are now 6 episodes left this year and the producers are saying that the last two seasons may be shorter (not ten episodes,) so I think they will have to start converging some storylines in order to move things along.

You sum up my feelings exactly. :)

Also, I just realised what Jorah and Daario's story in this episode reminds me of:

OMG YES at first I thought he was *going back* to Ramsey and I was going to scream and then he said he was going home and I felt a little better...I guess abuse from family is better than abuse from a psychopathy you hardly know?

I just hope someone walks by and stabs Ramsey and he just dies, no fanfare, nothing. Actually, it would be great if he was out in the woods and Jon just randomly came by and killed him, not even knowing who he was.

THIS SHOW has clearly turned me into a blood-thirsty revenge seeking fiend!
