Been to vote. Don't wanna talk about any of that, need to distract myself, so here's a post about Lucifer, both TV show and comics series.

Anyone who finds the idea of there being a 'Mrs God' offensive, should probably not go behind the cut. Brief mention of Preacher at the end, which those of you who haven't read the original comics series may find spoilery.

Have to say it did amuse me somewhat to see that Tricia Helfer, who played 'Six,' one of the born-again Cylons in Battlestar Galactica, has been cast as God's ex-wife and mother of the angels, Lucifer and Amenadiel among them. Yet another role where she'll be banging on about God all the time. Apparently, while on earth she'll be trapped in a human body called Charlotte.

I'm expecting to get a certain amount of amusement out of seeing Lucifer and Amenadiel introducing her to people as their mother and no one believing them (because she'll look the same age, or younger, than them, and, in Amenadiel's case, is white, and in Lucifer's case is not British, though that of course isn't so unbelievable), and Chloe being in denial to herself that she's jealous of her, etc etc. I'm also rather looking forward to seeing how they'll explain the whole Mrs God thing without getting into deep theological waters, or if they'll try to skirt around it and hope no one will ask too many questions. Fun, fun, fun!

Speaking of Lucifer (or Tom Ellis anyway) being a Brit, I would say I wonder if it'll ever be explained why the Devil has a British accent, but I suspect I already know the answer to that one.

Series 2 starts in September. Hopefully, Amazon Prime will show it again. In the meantime, I've been reading the comics series and have just finished the first TPB volume. Boy, those who've been saying the TV show is nothing like the comics were not kidding. The comics are dark, at times quite bloody, and Lucifer - far from spending his time chasing women and making smutty comments while acting like a bizarre sort of ingenu - has no genitals, has a very dark sense of humour if he has one at all, and doesn't seem to care about anyone, except maybe Mazikeen a bit. It's all very cerebral in a macabre kind of way, which the TV show...very much is not.

Finally, a brief word about another TV series made from a comic book, Preacher. I made a conscious decision not to watch this. Back in my younger days, when I was a lot less squeamish, I read the original comics series. Even then, I found parts of it pretty tough going, due to extreme violence, and due to the fact that the writer, Garth Ennis, had a far more scatological sense of humour than my own. The last thing I want is to see any of it as live action, even though I like Ruth Negga and think she probably makes a great Tulip.

Finally, finally, I hope there aren't too many Cassidy fans among you? If so, you might want to rein back on that before it's too late.

Also interesting given that last season SPN's big bad was God's sister, Amara, bringer of darkness. There seems to be a theme going on.

Actually my guess is that it God won't appear on Lucifer but as there's an absence of lore on Mrs. God that it provides a way to explore that aspect of the story. Of course, in SPN's case they actually went there with God fighting his sister, who simply wants to destroy all his creations until she finally sees the light (misogynistic pun definitely intended).

Yeah, I like Dr. Linda too. My guess is that either they might get rid of Maze because she certainly didn't have a lot to do in S1. And if Amenadiel is getting a larger role in S2 I'd think she'd have even less to do.

In SPN's case Amara had also been locked up since the early days of the universe's creation. Dean saved the day by giving her SPN's version of the yellow crayon speech. It'll be interesting to see if Lucifer follows the same path.
