shapinglight: (can I play too?)

Thought I'd better do one of these before the year gets any older. Most links are to stories on Archive of Our Own.

I'm not going to say I didn't write much fic last year this time, because I wrote a fair bit (unless you compare it with how much I used to write back when I started). Again, most of it consisted of short fics and drabbles for [community profile] sb_fag_ends, though I didn't manage something for every month, due to being away for almost six weeks back in March/April. I also failed (for the first time ever :gloom:) to produce something new for [community profile] noel_of_spike. Oh well.

I did write two stories for [community profile] seasonal_spuffy, though, and one for [community profile] summer_of_giles, and one for [profile] iwry_marathon. I also - for the first time in quite a few years - wrote something just because I had an idea and wanted to. I really hope that happens again this year.

That story was:

Someone To Watch Over Me. Darla/Female OC, mention of Darla/Angelus, R. Set in Paris in 1903, Darla finds it a cruel place for a woman alone, even a centuries old vampire such as herself.
[personal profile] chasingdemons made me a wonderful banner for this story.

For the spring round of [community profile] seasonal_spuffy I wrote:

Raison d'Etre. Spike/Buffy, PG-13. Buffy, Faith and the other Slayers have completed their mission. Now it's up to Buffy to tidy up the wreckage.

For the autumn round, I wrote:

A Matter of Time. Spike/Buffy PG. A fluffier affair altogether. Literally.

For [community profile] summer_of_giles in June, I wrote:

Evil Is As Evil Does. Giles, Spike, PG. Set in BtVS season 4, when Spike was Giles's very unwelcome house guest, and behaving exactly as you might imagine.

For [profile] iwry_marathon, I wrote:

Fixers, Buffy/Angel, Spike/Illyria PG. Angel is having trouble picking up the phone. Spike and Illyria decide they have to fix that.

The pieces I wrote for [community profile] sb_fag_ends (which all feature Spike/Buffy, but other characters too) can be divided into two categories, 'serious' and 'completely daft.' The completely daft ones haven't been uploaded to A03 yet (and maybe won't ever be).

The serious ones first:

Embers PG, 100 words, Buffy POV, season 6, angsty.

Thought Crime PG, 100 words, Buffy POV, season 7, angsty.

True Thomas, PG, 250 words, Spike POV, season 7, a bit angsty.

Darkness and Light, PG13, 200 words, 100 words Buffy's POV, 100 words Spike's POV, season 6, angsty.

Wishing Doesn't Make It So, PG, 560 words, Buffy POV, the Wishverse, angsty(ish).

Intimations of Mortality PG, 300 words, Spike POV, season 7, angsty.

To Have And Then To Have Not PG, 760 words, OC POV, post-series, only angsty if you're an evil vampire kitten dealer.

Partners in Crime PG13, 530 words, Spike POV, season 5/6 hiatus, angsty.

The Faerie Queen PG, 1000 words, Spike POV, season 5, sort of angsty.

Ghost PG, 250 words, Spike POV, post-series, angsty.

Regrets, I've Had a Few PG13, 100 words, Buffy POV, angsty(ish)

The completely daft ones are as follows:

Squid Are Friends, Not Food, PG, 300 words. Completely ridiculous.

Community Service PG, 300 words. Also completely ridiculous.

Elementary PG, 1000 words. Still completely ridiculous.

[community profile] sb_fag_ends closed its doors for good at the end of 2016, which was sad. I think we had a good run, though.

Other fannish stuff:

I went to [community profile] writerconuk again, where a good time was had by all, then spent the following week haring around the country with [personal profile] rebcake, which was enormous fun. I'd love to do it again.:)

Ooh, more good stuff to read! Thanks for linking everything...

"I also - for the first time in quite a few years - wrote something just because I had an idea and wanted to. I really hope that happens again this year." Yay! And it turned out great! I also hope you have this kind of fun again soon. :)

"Completely daft" is a description that catches my interest immediately.

Gosh, you've been busy, especially considering how busy you've been in real life. Well done. And there's nothing wrong with daftness! Much needed in these dark days.

I'm in awe that Writer Con is still running! That is SO COOL! I just wanted to say that. :-D

And damn, that's actually a fair bit of writing after all. :-)
