Stray Lucifer Thoughts
Feb. 15th, 2017 03:17 pmSo I've finished my Lucifer re-watch.
I know, I know. I should have done it more slowly, so as to better fill the yawning chasm of time before the show comes back in May. But instead I've raced through it, and am now going to have to fill the time in other ways.
Slight spoilers behind cut.
To this end, I've embarked on a re-read of the comics. I raced through them last time. This time, I'm going to read more slowly and try to make note of things I hope the show might pick up on (or more like do a take on), which is hardly anything, to be honest - Show/Comics whole different animal etc, etc - and the thing I would most like them to take up - Lucifer's complete obduracy when it comes to his dealings with his dad, right down to preferring to leave the entire universe rather than stay in his dad's creation - is probably the one thing the show definitely won't go with, but never mind. As long as the show carries on in a similar vein to how it has been I'm happy, though likewise I hope the plot will be advanced, characters will be developed, and that we will get to meet more of Lucifer's and Amenadiel's brothers and sisters, including Azriel, the angel of death, who I've been picturing in my mind as looking like Zhang Ziyi.
I should also fill the time by catching up with other TV stuff. I still have two episodes of The Man in the High Castle to watch. It's very slow going because I'm really not enjoying it. More on that when I've finished it. Then there's Humans, Channel 4's robot story (like Westworld without the uber-violence and pretentiousness), I have to finish that. Also, I have access to the first episode of Legion and should watch that.
But anyway, witter, witter.
What I've really come online to say is that I think Stewardess Interruptus may be my favourite Lucifer episode so far. The procedural part of the episode is way more fun than usual - Maze's fight with Kang is hilarious!- and I really noticed this time that the gathering of people Lucifer had had sex with at the police precinct was a very varied group - all races, all sizes, both sexes, and not all of them plastic made-in-a-factory Hollywood perfect either. I do like that this show is doing that, even if the main cast are (of course) all impossibly thin and attractive.

Date: 2017-02-17 08:59 pm (UTC)Then again I remember some friends and I watched Bullitt a few years back which was notable for a famous car chase scene. We found it and the movie unexceptional and the most memorable thing about it was an interminable scene of a plane leaving a gate and taxing that had us in stitches.

That's the first I've heard of Humans. I think I should check it out. I love robot stuff but Westworld doesn't appeal to me.

I've only watched half of the first series of Humans so far (there are only two series), but I like it an awful lot more than Westworld. It's much more down to earth and doesn't leave you feeling like you need to wash your brain out (which is how I felt after watching Westworld).

Stewardess Interruptus
One of my favourite parts is when Lucifer is like 'don't speak ill of the dead' to Burt near the end.
Chloe in this ep reminds me of Luffy from One Piece. Luffy is all about 'your enemies are getting off too easy if they die, you want your enemies to live with the knowledge that their dreams got dashed'.
