shapinglight: (Lucifer and Dr Linda behind the bar)

So, like I said in my previous post, I've been managing to keep up with my various TV shows while staying at K's (pretty much all my brain has been fit for really, I've been so tired). I've even picked up a couple of news ones - American Gods and Mozart in the Jungle, between which there could not be more of a contrast, I guess? Also, Sense8 came back, and I finally managed to start watching it yesterday.

Anyway, I've enjoyed them all, but - despite not being the best by a long way - Lucifer is still my favourite.

Spoilers for the latest three episodes behind cut

Well, I guess I was right about Maze's comment about looking good in hospital scrubs. It was to prepare us for her starting to wear somewhat less skintight clothing.

Which is good, because it means no mystical pregnancies in the show.

Of the three episodes aired so far, yesterday's, God Johnson, is my favourite. I thought that was excellent. Loved Mum's contributions to it, especially her grudging admittance that humans have created some things that she's okay with - vodka being top of the list - and her last scene with poor old Dan. I thought the guy playing 'Possible Dad' was great, and would've been quite okay with him actually being 'Dad', (though of course Lucifer's complete and total rejection of any attempts at reconciliation by his father is one of the most important themes in the comics, but I'm not really expecting the show to stick to that).

But eps 14 and 15 were great too - unless you're a diehard Deckerstar 'shipper and care about nothing else in the show at all, because that relationship seems to have been pretty much re-set (at least for the moment), and on Chloe's part anyway there seems to be very little regret. I'm not bothered. It'll happen eventually, I'm sure, and when that happens, I'm not bothered either.

Far more interested in what is going to happen when Lucifer, Amenadiel and Mum find the missing bit of the sword (which I'm sure they will) and try to put their plan into action. Though with only two episodes left they'll have to get a move on.

As stated in previous post, sorry for rubbish review. I'm just...tired.

Mike proctors his last exam today and is grading right now in the next room. He's going to be doing so until the last minute when grades are due this semester.

Oh, that's good to know! I was thrown off by the actor change (I really liked the old Capheus).

I'd forgotten about that conversation re: Maze but even so I noticed (though her very first outfit when she appears with TH was somewhat revealing). I was thinking about her sweater seeming odd when she has the earbuds in talking to Chloe. I also noticed the sweater when she turned up at the school but figured that it was an attempt to "fit in" at the event.

I haven't seen God Johnson yet but they do seem to have found a way for the C/L relationship to be pulled back. I don't particularly care either, but I do hope they don't decide to keep that cycle going repeatedly. I have to say I liked the writing better, particularly in the school episode, which I thought was pretty good. I was not surprised to hear that Lucifer's marriage was a setup, and his 'wife' was a plant but it amused me that he did so to try and get intel on his mother. I liked that they subverted expectations with Candy which I would be willing to bet money would not have been done in the first 5 episodes of S1. The show has changed a good bit and has been influenced a lot by the female characters.

Gah! OK, I've started watching Lucifer recently. Which I've just realized means I can't read your recaps — at least not yet. I've just finished the episode where I totally predicted from the beginning what he lost in the container. The show's getting interesting! ;)

Also, love Mozart in the Jungle. Wish it were a little faster-paced, though. Where can I stream American Gods online?

Riight! I'd totally forgotten about that again already. But maybe the show's weird schedule this summer will be good in that respect.

Hm, we seem to disagree on that. The things you picked that stood out to you didn't to me (or at least not in a positive way).

I wouldn't say I don't care about nothing else at all, but I'm certainly shipping them a lot. I very much loved ep 14, though. I thought the reset made total sense, and I can very well see Chloe's POV there. Good for her to put him behind her. (Easy for me to say, since I'm confident they'll get together at some point.)
