Well, I'm still enjoying it quite a lot, though...

Spoilers behind cut

...I am beginning to think that someone in Westeros has invented a matter transporter, given how quickly everyone is getting from A to B.

Maybe Uncle Urine is running a ferry service for all sides in the conflict with his magic fleet and keeping very quiet about it?

Either way, the unfeasibly fast moving Dothraki army (with all horses intact, it looks like) suddenly descending on the Lannisters was very exciting, as was the whole sequence with Bronn (who I can't help liking still) escaping across the battle to use Qyburn's giant arrow thing-y (this whole sequence is totally ripped off from the second Hobbit movie, but never mind) and - hoorah! - fail to kill a dragon with it.

Or so it seems. Knowing Cersei/Qyburn, the arrow's poisoned.

So yes, very action packed. They must have spent a fortune hiring stuntmen and setting them on fire (unless it's the same five blokes over and over again CGI'd), and it was all very dramatic.

Dany is being quite worrying, though. Seems she's decided to do what Granny Tyrell said and be a dragon herself. I still hope that reason (and Tyrion) will prevail, as they have done in the past, but at the moment she just seems to be too angry. And Drogon getting shot will only make her angrier, which I can't help feeling just plays into Cersei's hands.

And just when things seemed to be getting better too, with Dany agreeing to help Jon. There was that proviso, of course, about him having to bow to her first. Apparently, she used the exact same words that Jon used to Mance Rayder back in season whichever-it-was, which I would never have remembered without reading about it on Buzzfeed. Same with what Bran said to Littlefinger, whose creepiness knows no bounds (Littlefinger's I mean, though Bran is pretty creepy too). I hate Littlefinger being near the Stark sisters, whose meeting was the high point of the episode for me. Was so glad that their embrace became genuinely heartfelt. They never got on, and I was afraid of more of the same. In fact, there still could be, if that troubling look Sansa Gave Arya while she was fighting with Brienne was anything to go by (and which Mr Creepy, of course, noticed). Hmm.

Anyway, wouldn't be at all surprised to find Jon back in Winterfell in the very next episode (maybe his little boat has an outboard motor?), and am hoping for a Jon/Arya and Jon/Bran reunion (though the latter is going to be a bit of a damp squib, probably, when Bran announces that they're not brothers at all).

In short, this episode gave me lots of stuff I've wanted to see for ages - a Stark sisters reunion, the dragons doing some damage - so much so that I'm a bit worried about the rest of the season. It can only get nastier, I'm afraid. :(

Oh well, as long as Sam survives (and hasn't given himself greyscale trying to help Jorah), I'm good, I guess.

Those of you reading on Dreamwidth, still no sign of anyone making decent icons so I've made some more myself. They're crap, but they're the best I can do. Oh well.

Really loved the whole thing.

I didn't realize that Dany/Jon mirrored Mance/Jon. Interessting. I figure Jon might have some interesting interaction with one of the Dragons that might make the whole conflict a bit mute.

I wonder where they will go with the night king. It is all a bit boring if he never becomes a problem for the people in the south, but for that, the north has to be pretty much overrun.

The bit about chaos is a ladder I remebered, because that is from the books. I loved how that stupified Littlefinger.

About the attempted assassination of Bran...in the books it is revealed at some point and there it was Geoff (I think??? It's all so vague) to frame Tyrion. (And the idea was probably Littlefingers)

I think there will not be enough time for them to take down Cersei. We'll see, things are suddenly moving very fast.
