Game of Thrones Season 7 Ep 5
Aug. 14th, 2017 10:08 pmOkay, is it just me or...
Spoilers behind cut
...are there stupid plans and then there's Jon Snow's plan?
Or was it Tyrion's plan?
I've actually forgotten.
Either way it was/continues to be a ridiculous plan, which - so far - has worked way too smoothly given how RIDICULOUS! it was.
That said, the preview for next week's episode looks pretty exciting, and there was some good stuff in this one, not least Gilly finding a reference to Rhaegar Targaryan (you know, Dany's older brother, Jon's real dad) and Lyanna Stark (Jon's mum) actually being married - which I suppose makes Jon legitimate and therefore rightful king of...well, everything. Wonder how Dany's going to feel about that?
Hopefully not as murderous as Arya seems to feel about Sansa. I was worried about antagonism between them, given that they never liked each other, but I'm massively disappointed in Arya that she's fallen so easily for Littlefinger's poisonous nonsense. Meh!
What else was good?
Oh yes, Jorah's back. Hoorah!
Except that now he's swanned off north of the Wall, as per Jon's/Tyrion's (whoever the hell it actually wases) stupid plan. Also meh!
You know what is the stupidest thing about this plan? That it being successful depends on Cersei being more concerned about the fate of every man, woman and child in Westeros than on getting revenge on everyone she doesn't like. Not going to happen. I don't for one minute believe she's pregnant, by the way. More like she's gone bonkers. Quite disappointed in Jaime that he apparently can't see it.
Oh well, we'll find out, I suppose.
Odd episode. Would have been okay had not the plan been so stupid (and had people not been still whizzing around Westeros so quickly you'd think they all had private jet planes rather than having to ride/sail everywhere).
Actually, there was another stupid thing in this episode - Jon letting a blacksmith with Gendry's skill potentially get himself killed fighting White Walkers. Why didn't he just send him to Winterfell? I'm beginning to think Sansa is the only person in the entire show who has any sense at all.
Well, maybe Sam has a bit too.
