I watched this on Saturday.

Very brief thoughts behind cut.



I thought it was silly, I'm afraid. Okay, it's a super hero film and they are silly by definition, but this one seemed extra-silly to me. Not to mention ever so slightly boring. My attention wandered several times.

I realise this is probably an unpopular opinion.

Maybe I would have liked it more if I were a DC comics fan, I don't know. Even when I was a kid, DC comics characters always seemed so much lamer to me than Marvel ones.

Nope, I agree with you. I saw the whole thing as being a part rip of the Capt America film. I still don't get what the fuss was all about.

I guess it's because it was the first of these flicks to feature a female character as the lead?

There really isn't any other reason to get excited about it, as far as I can see. The only character I liked was the dumpy secretary.

which it didn't feel like to me. It wasn't bad but I doubt I'd bother watching it again.

I thought it was OK (better than any of the other non-Nolan DC movies at least), but very formulaic and predictable. The end battle especially was very anti-climatic.

I think 'ok' is being a bit kind, and since it's the only super hero movie so far with a female lead character I wish it could have been a bit better.

That said, Marvel's Peggy Carter blows this Wonder Woman out of the water when it comes to being a feminist role model, or whatever.

True, but unfortunately Agent Carter struggled for viewers and is no longer with us while WW has made huge global (and particularly domestic) box office. I think the film has become quickly beloved because it's been so long awaited and at least parts of it didn't disappoint. But I thought it did everything to play it safe and there are various signs WB was not expecting much from it.

The real question to me is whether its follow up will be better now that the market has been clearly established.

I guess. I really wish she'd ditch the stupid costume, but I suppose it's meant to be iconic.

Wonder Woman as a superhero just doesn't grasp me. I think the hype flared up around the important factors which still stand true like it being a female led superhero film. The content didn't deserve it alone.

No, it was pretty feeble really. Plus, her costume is just so silly. I know it's iconic or something but still really silly.
