Lucifer season 3 episode 11
Jan. 3rd, 2018 07:47 amHello. Happy New Year, everyone!
I will be back later with a more general post, but in the meantime, here's a review of the latest Lucifer episode.
So, Lucifer came back (just for one week, there's no more, apparently, until January 22).
Spoilers behind cut
It also went back, in that this entire episode was a flashback to when Lucifer first came to Los Angeles and decided to defy his father and stay. It ended with Mazikeen cutting off his wings.
In between, was a great warring brothers/bromance-y episode featuring Lucifer and Amenadiel and their (at times) rather slapstick adventures trying to retrieve Amenadiel's stolen necklace (the one that turns out to be part of the flaming sword at the end of season 2). In the meantime, Chloe, still a uniformed officer, is running her own investigation of a related murder, despite Dan's attempts to dissuade her (which were very consistent with the way he behaved in season 1).
It was all really cleverly done, I thought, filling in gaps without contradicting what has gone before. Except maybe in the case of the meeting between Chloe and Charlotte Richards (pre-Mum), because Chloe showed no sign of knowing who Charlotte was when she turned up at the beginning of season 2. That apart, though, it was great. Loved it, especially all the Lucifer/Amenadiel stuff.
This was the last of the season 2-made standalones. They've all been wonderful in their different ways. But - though I'm enjoying season 3 anyway - I really, really want an episode made this season to be as wonderful as this was. I'm just afraid that's not possible while Tom Welling is part of proceedings.
Oh well. ;)
One small thing, there wasn't really any explanation as to why the murderer stole Amenadiel's necklace in the first place. Never mind.
