Lucifer season 3 episode 15
Feb. 27th, 2018 02:56 pmCurrently stuck at the in-laws' watching the snow come down. Took my laptop with me this time, though, so at least I don't have to wait till I get home to catch up with the new episode of Lucifer.

...this really wasn't my favourite episode of the season so far. Not by a long way. There was some nice stuff in it - there always is - but the procedural part of the episode was particularly dull this time, IMO.
Admittedly, this could be because -despite being a BtVS fan for so many years - the American high school experience is still very alien to me and I have a really hard time believing Chloe could get so caught up in it (even by proxy through the pages of a novel) that she would almost seem a different person. I guess I just don't get feeling nostalgia for missing something that, to me, sounds pretty much like...well, hell.
In fact, Lucifer saying that high school reunions were a big Thing in in real, actual hell sounded a lot more plausible.
It also doesn't help that it was blatantly obvious who the murderer was from the moment he appeared, which was pretty much at the beginning of the episode.
However, there were, as I said, good things in the episode too - Lucifer's dream sequence (if only because it was nice to see the wings again), Trixie being defensive about Maze, Ella and Chloe in the day-glo wigs, Dr Linda standing up to Maze.
Okay, I do understand why Linda felt so bad about Maze, and she was a great deal to blame for lying to her, but Maze is being way too proprietary about her (Maze can't help it, I guess, she's a demon), and Linda should not just give in to her.
It seems she has, though. Amenadiel too. We'll see.
Not a lot to say, as you can see. Maybe I'll like it better on re-watching.

They did suggest that was what he means to do. Maybe it's something else, though.

And yes, I rather figured him for the murderer too but assumed the show would do some kind of twist. But no, it was just a long circling around.
My biggest problem with Chloe's behavior was that it seemed unconvincing. However the idea that someone who missed out on typical high school experiences did seem quite plausible. I certainly wouldn't miss it but some might and I recall some child actors saying as much.
Yeah, I'd have thought Linda as a therapist would have done more to address the issue with Maze than simply let Maze dictate to her what she can do in her life. I can understand the guilt, but if she was serious about her relationship with Amenadiel being more than just a passing thing then she should have behaved differently. Of course any such relationship could never be equal or long-term or ordinary, but then neither could Maze and Amenadiel's.

That's pretty much what Linda says to Maze in the restaurant scene, in fact, but then she seems to change her mind anyway. Amenadiel too. He just assumes that his task from Dad couldn't possibly be to be happy living a human life, which it might just as well be for all he knows.
