Lucifer season 4 eps 2-6
May. 19th, 2019 05:05 pmI was going to write a brief pre-finale post about Game of Thrones and how I'm fine with whatever happens in it because I don't really care that much (except about Drogon the dragon, but I know he's going down with Dany, so ), but then I decided I don't care so much I can't be bothered to write it (I'm sure it'll look amazing whatever happens), so here's another post about Lucifer season 4.
I'm getting through it much quicker than I thought I would. I watched ep 6 this morning.
I'm extremely uncritical about this show, as I expect everyone knows, but there continues to be a lot less in season 4 for me to be critical about anyway - if I was going to be critical, that is.
I love the increased supernatural element - was so pleased when Eve and Maze had their conversation about Lilith (Mazikeen's mother, as anyone who has read the comics will know, as well as the woman Eve replaced as Adam's wife)- and when Remiel showed up (even if she is completely different to Remiel in the comics). I love Eve too. Inbar Lavi is terrific. She makes the character very likeable, despite the fact she's obviously bad for Lucifer.
Most of the characters have been getting good storylines (Trixie's hardly been in it, but her appearances have been pretty memorable). The only storyline I'm not too keen on is Amenadiel, Linda and the angel-baby. I know they probably went with it because of Rachael Harris being pregnant in real life, but I'm slightly miffed the baby is a boy. I think, since they're bringing more elements from the comics into the series (albeit very diluted down), the baby should be a girl, who'll be called Elaine. Oh well.
Anyway, four episodes to go. Intrigued to see what'll happen with these bat wings. In the comics, Lucifer's wings seemed to change from giant bat wings to standard angel wings for no reason that I could ever make out, so will be interested to see what explanation for the transformation the show comes up with - whether it's simply down to the fact of Lucifer being with Eve, or if there's some other reason too.

So in the comics - he has giant bat-wings too? I wondered.

I can't remember if he cut them off or not, but they've ended up somehow in the possession of the Japanese goddess of death and he goes to get them back. They're angel wings at that point. Then, at some point - again, can't remember exactly when - they become giant bat wings, which no one comments on at all. Then they're angel wings again. The rest of his appearance doesn't change. He never looks demonic in any other way.

Date: 2019-05-22 04:44 pm (UTC)Hm...I think the television series handled that better. Because they explain it as having to do with how Lucifer's views himself. In the comic that I'm reading right now, discovered another oddity -- which is different than the series -- Lucifer doesn't appear to be anatomically correct or doesn't have a penis or balls. While Gabriel does. Very odd.

Date: 2019-05-22 03:30 pm (UTC)I've finished the series now. Read your review, which I mostly agree with, though I'm a lot less critical.
Am going to write a series review of my own, once I've made myself some season 4 icons, which will have to do me until a proper icon maker makes some.
