:Sigh:

It's so frustrating when you have the opportunity to write and then just can't do it. Had a bit of time on my own at work with no work to do, so tried to write a scene of my [livejournal.com profile] plot_wout_porn story. Couldn't. Fine, I thought. I obviously need to think about this some more so I'll try something else. Tried to do some editing on one of those slave Spike fics I keep wittering on about but never posting. However, I think I've made things worse, not better. Okay, I thought, obviously not in the mood for doing that. Maybe I should try something completely different, so I started a short piece for my next calendar post. Couldn't do it. I think I may have forgotten how to write 'funny.' Also, apart from last month's calendar post, so far this year I haven't completed anything longer than a drabble.

Aaargh! My fic writing brain is obviously broken.

However, I know perfectly well that I may post tomorrow or the next day about how wonderfully the writing is going, so this is just me blowing off steam. Where would I do it if not on LJ?

I'm sure this happens to all writers at times. Maybe if you waited 30 minutes and tried again. ;)

Sometimes blowing off steam while writing is good, sometimes you can even figure out what's holding you back while doing it.

Heh, I can imagine it might be limping after two epic fics in the last two years. Poultices--imaginary poultices made of dandelion fluff, dewdrop sparkle, the drip of water into mossy fountains and a dash of gin. Or vodka. Or English Breakfast tea if that's your tipple :) Steam away. It'll be back.

Murphy covered that one. As soon as you haven't got a spare secord to put pen to paper (or finger to keyboard) you'll be bubbling over with ideas again.

Oh, Deb, I find this completely hilarious.

No, no, no, not because I'm not sympathetic to your situation; but I'd woken up earlier and then crawled back into bed for a two-hour nap. The alarm just woke me up a few minutes ago. My sleep had been restless and I couldn't warm up, despite the sheet, comforter and fleece blankie covering me. After the alarm rang, my head was still fuzzy and in a half-dream state. Lady Antonia Fraser (just the name, not the image or voice) popped into my head, declaring that my writing was worse than a soggy something-or-other (potato?).

And then I woke up fully. I suppose it's no surprise that my waking anxiety had bled over into my dreams, because I'm worrying over my two short fics. I'm wondering if you're just feeling out of sorts because you've nearly finished posting your magnus opus (and it doesn't get any bigger than your epic stories!) but not knowing what you're going to do with yourself.

Of course, we can all hope for the magic reset button to appear tomorrow. And, yes, of course, we will all want to hear about it!

Oh I know *exactly* how you feel. I've been battling with the second half of my [livejournal.com profile] grazieprego fic all week, and dearly wish I could just delete the whole thing. All the words are wrong and in the wrong places. (And I hear you on the 'funny' thing too - I would never have thought that writing *crack!fic* could be such a pain.)

Sorry about venting here, but I've been feeling like kicking something all day.

On a positive note, you wrote this entry so all is not completely lost. You still remember the English language. :-P

I'm sure you'll get the engines running in not time.

Heh. Well at least you have a grasp on the English language. I apparently do no (or "not" as it were but apparently I get those two confused).

*hug* I've been totallies "not writing" all day.
shockingly easy to do.

I really must either develop some discipline and self control or disable my network connection...

right... discipline and self control it is!

It's far far too easy to waste time online!
