Any interest in a Darla ficathon/fic challenge?

Firstly, to everyone who left comments on my yesterday's post, I will get around to answering all of you, though I'm not sure I'll get through all the comments before I go away on Friday. My brain is threatening to go into shut-down mode, due to the nervousness about this weekend ramping up even more. Am beginning to feel sick now, which is ridiculous, plus thoroughly shame-faced about my yesterday's post. Dunno what came over me.

Anyway, to change the subject completely, I was utterly bowled over by last night's Mad Men. I thought it was more than usually wonderful. Also, though I'm not terribly keen on crossovers, I found myself wondering idly which Buffyverse characters might fit into the Mad Men world, and to me the obvious answer is Darla - which led me by a circuitous route to wondering whether it might be an idea to do a Darla ficathon or fic challenge.

I've never run a ficathon before but I'm willing to give it a bash if anyone would be interested. I thought of calling it Darla Through the Ages (or possibly something similar but a lot less lame), and setting a deadline somewhere like, say, mid-October.

Is anyone provisionally interested? If so, please leave a comment. Also, next week when I'm back from London, I promise to shut up for a bit.

I am most definitely interested in a Darla ficathon! Especially when the deadline is so tantalizingly far away. It's like a mirage. So very manageable! So cool, so refreshing! However, I know when I am up against it, there will be sand in my teeth. Lalalalalala! No. This time will be Different.

Well, if it's a fic challenge rather than a classic ficathon, I don't see why there couldn't be drabbles. There could even be a special Darla Drabbles section.

It's... possible? Not likely, but possible. It'll depend on how the ficathon is organized. I do dearly love Darla and agree that there ought to be more Darla!fic in the world...

I'm thinking more along the lines of giving people a theme - like Darla Through the Ages, as I said - and letting them write whatever they want and just having a end date. So quite a loose format, but with an overall theme.

If people wanted prompts to inspire them, I could ask for them.

I say tentative yes. I love Darla, as you know, but likely would have a hard time writing her well. She's got such an exact way of talking - hauty, proud, and extremely clever. Still, I love the spirit of the idea and it's hard to say no to a good challenge. As long as there were no length minimums, I'd be good to try and work out a one shot. And if it motivates you to write more Darla, even better!

Oh, no length minimums, as kseenaa above wants to write drabbles (though of course I hope not everyone will want to do that).

It would be wonderful, wouldn't it? The episode I was watching was the one which ends with Draper in the sea in California, and somehow I could just see Darla there, though of course it would have to have been night time.

well, I've been meaning to produce more of that Angel/Spike/Darla AU for like...FOREVER if my buffy muse hasn't completely flown the coop. but I guess it depends what kind of ficathon you're thinking...something with prompts or just anything Darla.

Hooray! It would be great if you wrote more Buffyverse. I think I would probably follow quinara's model for plot_wout_porn and put up a post where people could leave prompts and others could use them if they want. Or not. I'd leave the rules very loose but with an overall theme of Darla Through the Ages, since she's such a long-lived character.

That's great. Thank you. I'll be posting more about this at the end of June. I have a ficathon entry to write by the middle of June and then am going away for a week. After that, I'll make another post about this Darla idea with definite dates and everything.
