For those of you on my flist who are fans of The Wire, here is a link to a great interview in today's Guardian with Idris Elba, who played Stringer Bell, with some wonderful pics.

Glad to hear he still intends to cross the Atlantic if there's good work on offer here, even if, to the UK's shame, he did have to go to America to find decent work to start with.

I read that. I was disappointed neither he nor the writer referred to his major role in Ultraviolet which was the only thing I've ever seen him in.

Well, it was a long time ago, plus a fantasy series. Unfortunately, TV critics never take those seriously.

I have it on DVD. I've always found it very impressive. It was the first vampire show I ever saw. I hope he's not ashamed of it.
