Have ideas for a Darla story? If so, whether you're taking part in the ficathon or not, feel free to leave your prompt in comments. I know I find prompts very useful, and I'm sure other people will too. I'll start, shall I?

It's 1898. Angelus has gone. How will young William cope as the 'man' of the family? Can he keep Darla in the manner to which she's become accustomed? She rather has her doubts.

Darla pressed her finger tips to her aching forehead.

"I'm sure you have many sterling qualities, William. Give me a day or so, and I might even remember them."

Not really prompts maybe, but ideas anyway:

- Darla is an incredibly powerful vampire/character. But how was she just after she was turned by the Master?

- Lilah has been turned and meets Darla. Imagine the clash?

I'm not gonna write it myself, but can I just say the thought of Darla v. vamp!Lilah is truly inspired?

How did Darla reconcile herself to sharing Angelus with Dru? What was in it for her?

What? You don't think she was going to do it out of the goodness of her heart, do you?

A bunch to play with, including several generic across the centuries so you can pick your pet period at will!

- What is Darla's backstory really? Canonically she had money and no husband, and picked up fatal syphilis. Was she a whore as she says, or is that how others labelled her?

- We see her all over the world. Did Darla find a place she felt at home?

- Simply: Angelus, Darla and a memory of jasmine.

- Peacock feathers; hunter/hunted; a theatre

- Was Angelus Darla's first longterm partner? Expand! (though I have a vague plan which may touch on this so I may end up doing my own prompt).

- Darla dresses beautifully and in period. So find a fashion (ideally an extreme one) and tell us a story around it (hoop skirt? Flapper dress? Ultra-tight lacing? You choose).

- I don't believe the vampires, or certainly not our Fanged Four, do their own housework. Give us a servant's tale.

- What's it like for Darla in Sunnydale just before Buffy arrives? What is Luke like? How does the group work with the Master trapped? Was Darla planning to live there indefinitely?

- How does a vampire realise she's pregnant? (I feel this could go many ways - angsty, dark or comic certainly!)

- Is that really Darla Connor sees in Inside Out? How is she there? Why? What could have happened?

Darla in Restoration England (I've always thought the period suited her best)

Going by the s3 opener, Darla and Angelus seem to have travelled with younger vampire couples decades before Spike and Dru. Were James and Elisabeth the first, or did it start earlier? What were Darla's reasons?

Both in the flasbacks and when he originally arrives in Los Angeles, Holtz seemed as intent on finding Darla as he was on finding Angel. Did they ever encounter each other without Angelus around?

The first of these is something I'm considering (though it's a very specific historical event not a general Restoration piece). So a tentative 'claimed' on this!

I like the Holtz idea very much. There will definitely be mention of him in the story I'm planning, though I'm not sure he'll feature as a character.

And Darla would look gorgeous in Restoration costume.

* Five (or Ten) Things Darla and Angelus Did Together That She Can't Forget

* Give me some more Tortured Pregnant Darla -- was it really Connor's soul effecting her, or something else? Might it be worth reconsidering the state of the soul in vampires?

* Somebody tell the ENTIRE tale of the Gypsy Girl: how Angelus found her, how Darla got her, and what happened afterward? Smut is a plus. *G*

* Resurrected, Re-turned Darla and Drusilla. Naughty, naughty things. Maybe in the clothing store. Maybe in the Human Cellar.

* Darla stalks Buffy for a while, just trying to figure "it" out. Maybe she catches her.

* What if they had managed to deliver Connor without Darla killing herself?

* What if Angel had agreed to turn human Darla?

I'll give What-if prompts. :-) Use them or not.

What if... Darla had created both Angelus and Spike?

What if... Angelus had created Darla, and Angelus was the Masters creation?

What if... Darla had survived the birth of Conner?

What if... Darla had been affected by the magic spell Xander did, making all woman want him?

What if... Darla got a soul (without being pregnant or being human)? How would it have happened and how would it affect her?

What if... Darla never was turned into a vampire and survived her illness?

There. If I think off any more What-if's, I'll return. ;-)

Many of them are very intriguing. I've actually written a Darla survives the birth of Connor story, but I'd always be interested to see someone else's take on it.
