Have just been watching some Jeeves & Wooster from the third series, when the two are in New York and staying in that swanky apartment. This episode contained the first scene where Jeeves and Wooster play a duet on the piano, and I found myself staring in wonder at the sheer slashiness of it all.

Am sure I would never have thought that when I first saw it. Fandom does funny things to you, doesn't it?

In other news, yesterday, I watched the Caprica pilot movie and...

....boy, that was grim. Grim, grim, grimmity grim. Can't say I liked it exactly, but I didn't always like BSG either. (Razor was pretty much unwatchable at times). An awful lot of very interesting stuff in it, though, plus it looked amazing. I'm looking forward to seeing where JM's character fits in. Wonder if he'll have any scenes with that very scary Brit actress (whose name I can't remember) who played the terrorist nun?

I'm also looking forward to seeing if Ron Moore can make a decent attempt at world building while maintaining the critique on our own society. We'll see. At any rate, it's superior, if disturbing, stuff.

ETA: Have just realised where I'd seen the scary nun actress before. It was in The OC. She isn't a Brit at all, is she? Oops! Yes, she is, and she was never in The OC, of course. She was Atia in Rome.

I have no idea how many of the actors from the pilot will be in the series?

Me either, but I would have thought they'd need them all back. Zoe was a bit annoying. On the other hand, I was very impressed with how 'real' everyone looked. Zoe and her friends looked like proper schoolkids, not all half-starved and Hollywood glamourous (though no one was actually ugly of course). The same was true of the adult characters. In fact, that's something that's notable about BSG too - not that there weren't lots of young, pretty people in it, but that there were plenty of older actors too.

James would have made a great Dr Graystone, but Eric Stoltz is a bigger star, so I guess they were lucky to get him. I too hope James's character won't be killed off, but as you can see, it's unlikely the show will pull any punches. BSG never did.

I'm sure he'll be great. But like I said, the BSG writers are ruthless. If they think a character should die, that's what'll happen. :(
