Time for another Calendar Post (the proper one this time), and this month in my [livejournal.com profile] sueworld2003 fanart calendar, it's Gunn month. Well, to be completely accurate, it's J August Richards In Some Other Show Looking Utterly Yummy in a Suit Month, but let's not quibble about that.

I've only managed a drabble this time, I'm afraid, RL being how it currently is. Hope you like.

Setting: the suburban hell dimension, as seen in Underneath in AtS season 5
Rating: PG
Beta: Yes, I got this one beta'ed. Ignorance is not bliss. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] hello_spikey.

Atonement.

Guess I knew there had to be a catch. Guy like me rollin’ up to the courthouse in $1000 suits –making deals with the judge – playin’ golf with the D.A. weekends? I don’t think so.

Couldn’t last. And part of me always knew it. You turn your back on what you are – where you come from? Choice like that’ll turn around and bite you in the ass one day.

‘Cept wasn’t my ass got bit, was it?

The robots were kind of cool, though.

“Hey, hon? Oven light just went out. I need a bulb from the cellar.”

I go.

Very nice. Very very nice. Especially like the line about the robots, it somehow makes it all the more real.

Great drabble love.

I agree that the line about the robots really adds punch - reminds us of Gunn's more playful moments.

*hugs him*

Gah. Those good intentions are a bitch. Pretty picture, sad tale.

Sounds like Gunn - beating himself up for the unforeseeable (or is it just me that never blamed him at all for Fred's death? They must have signed thousands of documents at WFH which didn't raise Old Ones).

That knowledge of what's coming, and the endless repetition of thought, guilt and pain, is very real here.

Sue's picture is beautiful.
Poor Gunn. This gave me the shivers.

The picture is brilliant and you have caught Gunn's inner voice nicely. Plus, the memory of Fred in the background makes the image a perfect match for the words.

You're really captured Gunn's situation and dimemna there. You're underestimating your skills at drabble.
