Very brief post-Mad Men post

Just watched the first two episodes of Mad Men season 3.

Very brief spoilers behind cut, because I don't have time for a proper review.



Have to say, all that stuff with Betty's father really cut to the bone. Also, I couldn't help looking at all the women's little white summer gloves and shuddering. I remember those days. I even had little white gloves of my own when I was a kid, though I don't think I actually wore them. In fact, I think they were my mum's and she gave them to me.

And maypole dancing? Yeah, we did that at primary school.

More considered thoughts on Friday, I hope.

What's the significance of them?

Nothing really, just that the 60s were the end of the era that believed no lady went out without a hat and gloves, no matter what the weather, and white gloves were what you wore in summer.

I have the really awful feeling that I like Peggy! I can't remember if I liked her before - I've respected her for a long time, but - weird. (All right, so mostly I liked the snark about wotsit having the power to be 25 but act 14.)

Oh me too, and that's new. Before, I admired her because she's so damn tough, but I didn't like her that much. But now...Who couldn't like her after her outraged parody of that ghastly female shrieking that all the men liked so much?

I need some new Mad Men icons, including a Peggy one.
