May. 19th, 2010 11:00 pmThe Deathstar has been particularly Die, Canon Fodder! Die! this week. It's a wonder they have any Stormtroopers left really.
In other news, I once more totally failed to write anything and consoled myself by watching the last few episodes of Babylon 5 season 4.
During the course of which, there were appearances by the Worst Security Guards Ever! and the Worst Kidnappers Ever! Some truly awful fight scenes, some very good fight scenes, some genuinely moving moments (yeah, I cried, but I cry over bluebells these days), some cringeworthy acting, some very good acting (Bruce Boxleitner looks so much better with a beard) and some wonderful Londo/G'Kar scenes.
I still love this show to pieces. :)
Oh, and I got tired of Channel 4 having nothing to say about when they're going to show season 2 of True Blood and bought myself the box set with the last of my birthday money.

Date: 2010-05-19 10:22 pm (UTC)I really enjoyed the second season of TB. Season 3 begins here June 13. :-) And I've got tired of waiting for Being Human to appear here--I think I'm going to break down and buy that on DVD.

Date: 2010-05-20 11:45 am (UTC)That sounds great. The way things are going, I'll be lucky if I ever get any holiday this year. Every request I make gets knocked back. :(

Is this both seasons, or just season 2? Whichever it is, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Date: 2010-05-20 11:50 am (UTC)Yes, and by the end of season 4, he's learned to stop doing that very irritating American TV actor of a certain era toothy grin every five minutes too. :)

That's right. He was in season 3 too. He gets a special mention for making me cringe the most at his acting - ie. every time he appears or says anything.
ETA: and when you worked with him, what was he doing? Please don't say teaching acting!

Date: 2010-05-20 08:39 am (UTC)We've been watching Season 2 of "True Blood" on whichever strange satellite channel it's been on and have been enjoying it hugely. It has too many wonderful characters to even begin listing them :)

Date: 2010-05-20 11:53 am (UTC)They do, and early season 4 contains some of their best moments, but there's good stuff towards the end of the season too. In fact, it was all much better than I remembered, despite a great deal of clunkiness. I'm sorry about the way Ivanova was written out, though. Her last scene (where she's crying all over Franklin because of Marcus) is very moving, but I ended up feeling like JMS had deliberately deconstructed the character as revenge on Claudia Christian.
And I'm pretty sure I shall love True Blood season 2.

Date: 2010-05-20 12:55 pm (UTC)I expect most Americans would laugh scornfully if I went into detail and say, "You think you have it bad?" It's the contrast to pre-Deathstar days that gets to me.
Glad to find another B5 fan. There's a surprising number of us about. It was my first proper fandom back in the days of fanzines circulated by post.
